This is only surprising if the habs did NOT express an interest in iginla. He is precisely what we want and wont cap us up long term.

iginla is plan a-g, then Vrbata then pretty much everyone else. We cant force him to sign but our cap situation says we can make a very attractive 2-3 year pitch, and we should. If he choses to go another way, that's his choice but he should not make that choice without us throwing a brinks truck at him.

The Habs are always interested in the big fish, but never get the big fish.

Plus, considering we've just traded for PAP, I don't see where he or anymore top 6 forward would fit on this team. That's unless the rumored Pacioretty is on his way out is true.
