Who were guys on cup winning teams who got their name on the cup but weren't able to play any finals games to injury, a few I can think of Peter Forseberg with the 2001 Avalanche, Joe Neiyundik with the 2003 Devil's, Trevor Dailey with last season's Penguins, did Denis Savard play any Finals games for Montreal in 1993?

Bob Kelly 1974. Tore knee ligaments in the 1974 semis. Scored the game-winning goal in the third period of the 1975 Cup clincher.

Michael Rosival 2015 Hawks, suffered a Joe Theisman like broken leg in the 2nd round. Missed the cup presentation by an hour or so due to weather.

Yvan Cournoyer - 1977
Barry Ashbee - 1974

Cournoyer in 1979 as well. He had that weird finish to his career with the 4 Cups. 1976 captained and contributed well to the Cup win. 1977 injured the entire postseason. 1978 captained and played well. 1979 injured all postseason and most of regular season as well. Then called it quits.

What year was it Beliveau missed the finals? 1959 was it? Had 5 points in 3 playoff games otherwise. While we're at it Rocket Richard played in 4 games in 1959 too. Not sure where he missed his time though.

Howe in 1950 comes to mind as well.

This is why I hate it when people have some sour grapes if their team doesn't win because of injuries - as if no other team is banged up in the postseason. It is a discussion we have with Wings fans from 2009 who are still mad about Datsyuk missing some time. Other teams do it and are successful. Mario was not 100% in 1991 or 1992. He had a tensor bandage on his wrist as he lifted the Cup in 1992 (Adam Graves slash). There is no way Orr was 100% either in 1972 as he missed the Summit Series. Forsberg in 2001. Then the extra heavy workload the #1 defenseman on each of the past two Cup winners had to endure (Keith, Letang) based on a thinner blueline thanks to injuries. They happen, but great teams find a way. We all wish there weren't injuries of course but every team has them.

Marc Savard suffered a career-ending injury during the 2010-11 regular season, but was still engraved on the Stanley Cup.

Didn't Gary Suter miss most of the 1989 playoffs with a broken jaw?

Yes, broken in game five of the division semi-finals against the Canucks; he missed the rest of the playoffs. He was the only player whose name is engraved on the Cup in '89 who didn't play in the final (other than backup goalie Rick Wamsley...).

In December of '89 Grant Fuhr had injured his left shoulder, and within about a week of returning to action in March of 1990 it was injured again and he missed the rest of the regular season and playoffs as a result. Despite this his name is on the Cup for the Oilers' 1990 win; Pokey Reddick backed up Bill Ranford in the playoffs.
