This is going to be some hybrid of single player with online thrown in. If they can make it always online their Sharkcard sales would be through the second roof.

Neat, but hasn’t basically everyone special at Rockstar moved on? Not sure what to expect creatively beyond a massive cash grab to move shark cards sometime way out in the future.

Not gonna live up to the standard

Nope. Most people with the talent left and from the sounds of rumors (and from a dev) it’s gonna be disappointing.

Yep.

1. Dan Houser left Rockstar and he was pretty important in terms of GTA

2. Rockstar received a lot of negative pushback towards the remastered GTAs full of glitches and bugs.

I'm cautiously optimistic that rockstar can actually put out a decent gta 6 but of course we know nothing about it right now including who's even in it (previous rumors were a female character was playable but tha'ts it)

You know damn well they are going to have like 30 people online in one server in GTA 6, and claim they can't have more. Even when RP servers have 200 or 300 or even 500 people in the online community.

It all comes down to the community doing everything better than Rockstar. Even online with RP servers like NoPixel blow anything Rockstar does away.

This is what I want from GTA 6. Offline of course to play story. But online, you need 200 or 300 people minimum. And more fun things to do online. I know they add heists and Dre challenges occasionally but the things you can do online in NoPixel like get a job, make money...I'm telling you RP just destroys ANYTHING GTA did for GTA online. Period.

I'm holding my breath about the quality and amount of single-player content there will be.

GTA V was such a special game when it came out, especially considering I was new to LA at the time...I really hate how the online component completely spoiled it for me. I got my money out of that game, twice, and yet I still mostly look back at it with disdain because of how the promised single-player content never came at the cost of years upon years of content you couldn't pay me to play. I wouldn't have such disdain for it had there been any attention given to offline players, but focusing everything into a mode I never want to interact with while we're looking at a decade without new single-player content was just too damn much.

Just realizing now that it's been 7+ years since I last played a GTA game. Yeesh.

I spent tons of time in GTA 5 offline and jumped into the online mode for maybe 30 minutes and couldn't figure out why it was so popular.
The base online mode sucks. There's no sense of civility and people are often talked down to. I remember trying to do the casino raid and I got kicked nearly immediately. "Your level's too low bro. Can't trust you." Well then how am I supposed to play it? You expect me to grind 50 or so levels?

To play devil's advocate, maybe RS didn't expect GTA online to be that big, and it'd be stupid to give up that amount of real money.

As for people leaving, it seems like that the natural progression of studios. That, and buyouts.

Could be burnout, management clashes, time crunches. Activision used to be a plucky upstart, just wanting to get devs name recognition at the end credits on Atari 2600 games. Something something the hero living to become the villain.

I hope they go with a different setting than what we've seen before. Do we need to cycle between LA, NY and Miami? Japan, Brazil, Italy - lots of interesting places they could go where they could tell a totally different story than the previous games.

So much of the game's character is its commentary on western/American culture, it'd be hard to move it out of the United States for that reason alone. Considering how much the United States exports content, most GTA players even if located elsewhere somewhat get it. But, it would be cool to see them do like Dallas/Houston or Washington/Baltimore. But, it seems it is likely to be Miami with possibility of missions set in a South American country similar to what they did in RDR2.

They basically remade Liberty City and Los Santos. I can only see them doing Vice City next. I agree they should switch it up though.

Maybe Japan or something. They had a heist mission in every game till 5. The trilogy had a lot of yakuza

It is, its a great world, a great setting and they've done nothing with it. I've really lost my love for Rockstar.

What they're doing with red dead online is inexcusable I agree. Just embarrassing. Even just a simple tweet acknowledging that they're working on updates would go a long way. They're genuinely leaving it, and red dead 2 in general, behind it seems.
