There's cases to be made, there's opinions to be had, but none of them really deserve to be described as 'reflected' or 'decent' if we're talking about a case for 'best hockey player ever'. They all have great cases to be considered great hockey players, just not the best. A reasonable analysis of that particular question can only end with the name Wayne Gretzky. That's all there is to it.

I'm not an Oilers, Kings or Gretzky fan..in fact I never particularly liked the way he played and preferred the likes of Mark Messier. But I also try to approach these things without letting my biases and personal whimsical preferences cloud my judgment. That's more than can be said about most people who weigh in on this topic.
