Yeah, this was weird. It was actually three games in a row as an All Star event, all held in Edmonton!

Future Blues, Red Wings, and Canadiens' coach Jacques Demers coached the WHA All Stars, and made the decision to play Gretzky, Howe, and Howe together.

Sounds like a pretty good line.

what star players were in Dynamo line up??

The tour overlapped with a European tour of the Soviet national team, so their six best players (Valeri Vasilyev, Vasili Pervukhin, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, Alexander Golikov, Vladimir Golikov, Pyotr Prirodin) were missing. They added six players on loan from CSKA to make up for it: Vladimir Vikulov, Vyacheslav Anisin, Alexander Lobanov, Alexander Volchkov, Sergei Gimayev and Alexei Volchenkov.

And not only North America, that winter they also played the St. John Warriors of the Southeastern New Brunswick Hockey League in the Netherlands which was quite a mismatch, but goes to show that any opportunities to play against North American opposition were appreciated.
