Gretzky quite easily. Actually played the games unlike Lemieux and was a level above Ovechkin. Lemieux might have been the best if he finished the season, but he didn't, and he wasn't clearly better to the point that the missed games don't matter. That year is also a bit inflated in terms of adjusted points because of the high PP time that affected star players more. A ton of stars had their career highs that year and 20 players hit at least 100 points, whereas only 13 did it in '82.

OV is out of place here. His 07/08 is up there as 1 of the all time great goal scoring seasons and can definitely be argued as #1. But in terms of overall offensive performance, it's in that "2nd tier" of great seasons with Jagr, Lafleur, etc. Gretzky and Lemieux are well above.

Answer is always Gretzky though.

99 wins 66 didn't play the games and 8 says why am I in this poll.
Yep. I'm a big Ovie fan, but the issue is that he's a goalscorer while the 2 other legends were playmaking centers.

In Fact, only his goalscoring could be compared to 66 or 99 (adjusted stats... or the way he's trying to get past Gretzky).

As impressive as Lemieux's PPG is, I usually give the credit to the player who does it over an entire season.

Voted Lemieux on the basis that his comeback was truly a 'great moment'. Hockey-wise Gretzky had the better season though. Probably should have voted that

lol at Ovechkin. Not sure why he's here tbh

Gretzkys greatest season was 87 goals in 74 games ! With 205 points. That's the season that should be used to compare any other generational players to Wayne. That's insanity.

It's funny how that season doesn't get mentioned as a what if despite it being the best GPG and PPG, because Gretzky has the records anyway and what ifs aren't needed for him.

Lemieux's 1988-1989 season 76 games - 85 goals - 114 assists = 199 points 100 pim +41 is a better season than his 1992-1993 season when you consider the players and talent or lack of talent on the team.
Lemieux's 1988 - 1989 season might be the best ever.

7.3 gpg vs 8 gpg. That is a difference but it is usually ignored when it comes to Lemieux vs Gretzky. A 93 lemieux in a 8 gpg league shatters 212

Best season Gretzky
Best player Lemieux
Best season: Gretzky
Best Player : Gretzky

Lemieux falls short. Lemieux shatters jack shit. Nothing indicates he would surpass Gretzky. The season Lemieux racked up 160 points. The league was full of garbage expansion teams and 23 100 + point players of which 6 had over 130 ! The year Gretzky netted his best there were 10 to 13 100 point scorers.

Go wash those hands bud.

Lol, no.

Of course he’ll have a higher GPG when he plays significantly less games. What a shocker.

Another thread, another lopsided result where Lemieux is getting crushed by Gretzky.
