Michael Rasmussen profiled by former Atlanta Thrashers scout Bernd Freimüller:

Pro: Size and reach – in the Austrian league he easily kept the puck away from the opponent and created space for himself and his teammates. Front-net player. Good size for the NHL too and a candidate for a powerplay spot.
Con: Average speed and hands at the verge between scoring and checking role. Looks passive at times.
Candidate to get traded? His size will always make him interesting, but somehow he smells like an underachiever, even though the high draft position wasn't his fault and he's still young. ETC is expiring. I'm not in love with him, but he could play on a third line and on the special teams. Maybe a trade with a prospect in the same age-range.
State as of now: Has to become more dynamic to get back to the NHL. Good but not outstanding AHL forward who can play center and winger. In the Austrian league good but not dominant, except physically. Not a "bad guy" but took some ill-disciplined penalties.
Three-year prediction: In the NHL, but maybe not with the Wings.

I think you make a good criticism about him looking "passive" at times.
