I'd say MB had a good offseason

Petry locked up

Prust for Kassian+5th is an absolute steal any way you look at it

Semin for 1 million will be a great investment

Chuckie signed

How is that an okay summer? Its so much better than just the average offseason moves, Bergy also trying to acquire fresh ideas for the PP is good too.

Kessel is the one big piece I think we missed out on, thought he was a great buy low opportunity.

Wow, incredibly thorough. I pretty much agree, including how you perceive the new assistant coach.

I missed the Holloway and Barberio signings which I would say are both C moves with the potential to grow.

...A "Sharp-ish" move/signing was a miss, but other than that, I'd say the Habs had a good offseason...now we just need to move a Dman (Emelin or Gilbert, imo) and ensure Desharnais is not a Top 6 centre on the team...I'd say we had a solid "B"...;)

Based on my realistic set of expectations, I'd give it an A. I liked both the Petry and Galchenyuk contracts. I love the Semin signing, and the Kassian trade was great as well. Bergevin let go the right guys and resigned the right depth in my mind (Mitchell and Flynn) at reasonable contracts.

Bringing in someone like Ramsay shows that Bergevin is aware of the coaching problem and is willing to address it, or at least part of it.

All in all, he addressed two needs up front without giving up anything of value in return. Sure, I would have liked Bergevin to get a new coaching staff in town and find a way to ship away DD and one of Emelin/Gilbert, but these aren't moves I legitimately expected him to do.

Yeah, those expecting DD + Emelin + coaching staff gone have unrealistic expectations.

Now don't get me wrong. I'd love to see them gone, but I don't expect it to happen.

Mixed feeling about this off season.

Many gambles : Kassian, Semin, Holloway.
Not many sure shot. Petry was one of the brightest spot this summer.
Did a couple of positive tweak here and there.
Flynn, Bournival, Barbiero are really weird signing.

Not sure about the Parenteau's re-buy....unable to unload him for a pick?

But in my opinion, MB still failed at getting what the Habs needed. He missed out on great players this summer and eventually signed the biggest gamble of the summer in Semin.

- Get a solid top 6 forward
- Move Galchenyuk to center without any interference

That's what i was aiming for before the summer started and i can't say mission accomplish. There's still hope....but now it's up to Therrien, which i don't think we can rely on to make to right move.

C at best for me.

Pretty strong off season so far. Not done yet until game 1, I suspect there will be some substractions during-after training camp.
