Grabner's not exactly Kyle Wellwood in the fitness dept. He's got a groin pull, very common in camp & early season. Most teams have injuries and this will be the case all year. I'd say be glad it's not any of "the others" - not naming names!

I'm thankful there's enough depth at every position that the team can withstand some injuries without resorting to Mark Flood and Tim Wallace.

OT: Redbull FYI -- the NHL.com Canada shop is selling the Reebok Edge Isles jerseys for $28 (marked down from $115) right now. Ships only to Canada.

i know these types of injuries are pretty common early in camp with everyone getting back up to speed, but it's still a bit concerning that it has now happened 2 seasons in a row.

maybe it does have something to do with the extra weight he gained over the summer as hyphistos stated.

WOW! thanks. I just priced out a JT one, comes to $84 after adding the name/number. Still an amazing deal.

When your main differentiator is your blazing speed and explosive acceleration, you better take care of that damn groin. I've been trying to heal a groin injury for three years but haven't rested more than a week at a time. It gets tweaked with hardly any activity and it's frustrating to say the least. Then again, I'm playing recreational hockey & baseball with has-beens and never-weres - so what do I have to complain about!

I think the Isled could have a great #1 line and three solid #2 lines if everyone's healthy!

Bailey - Tavares - Okposo
Kulemin - Grabovski - Conacher
Grabner - Nielsen - Clutterbuck
Lee - Nelson - Strome

goIsles!

Well the good thing is that he also said that they made speed tests (obviously before that injury) and that he didn't lose any speed despite gaining that much weight. Of course that's of no use right now, just saying. But yeah, for sure for a player like Grabner, who is making a living with his speed, a groin strain is one of the most unfortunate things that could happen. Seems like it's not so easy to get rid of these things.

I have mentioned this a few times in the past and I have to say this again.. What kind of trainers do we have? We can never stay healthy... We always get hurt more then any other team. We need to invest in the best sports medicine trainers out there.

Are you unaware of the injury list around the NHL right now?

Honestly the most random/bizarre thing I've ever seen. Strickland is a worthless Blues reporter who does occasional interviews on Blues telecasts. Seriously, what's the deal? I need to know haha

Lol so strange.

My guess is that they had grabs get the surgery in st. Louis (specialist probably).

Doesn't explain why strickland is picking him up though. He's probably friends with somebody in the organization.

Possibly a Doug Weight connection from his days in St. Louis?

my assumption was that he didn't pick him up; the language was just unintentionally ambiguous.

Of course I hope Grabs has a speedy and successful recovery, but I'm more concerned about de Haan. We need him in the lineup.

We should see CdH back in the lineup shortly. Oblique strains can be really annoying, but nothing to be worried about long term. Aside from JT, he's my favorite Isle and I have great expectations for him. I've said it before, but he's a young Scott Niedermayer in the way he can control the pace of the game with the puck on his stick - he is just so plugged into the game with outstanding hockey instincts and awareness.

Okay, good. I wasn't sure what his injury was. As long as it's not another shoulder injury.

He's definitely solid, but I'd say the jury is out for at least five years before drawing serious comparisons to Niedermayer. I'd like to see what he can do with more PP time because he can move the puck well. Everything about his game is very fluid and crisp just like Scott's game, but if Cool Cal can be a poor man's Niedermayer, we'd all be doing backflips.

I never doubted his ability but, due to several injury-plagued seasons, I began to doubt whether he could physically make it in the NHL. Let's see how he performs this season and beyond, and hopefully he'll develop into a similar mobile defenseman like Scotty was.
