Before 2002 Canada didn't win a best-on-best tournament for 50 years. Just saying it's quite a big step claiming to be the best when the Soviets had an even more impressive record.
Since the fall of the Soviet Union Sweden and Canada have dominated hockey on all levels. That's respect.
