That’s a good rule of thumb, but it isn’t exhaustive.

Two years or less of pro experience = exempt.

Specifically over 20. If someone has 2 years experience but it was their d+1 and d+2(like Nylander during the Vegas expansion) they are also exempt.
As an example, I am not protecting Alex Nylander because his pro experience doesn't cause him to need to be protected.

Basically I've just been doing if the player is in their 3rd or higher season, they are eligible. I don't know if that's how it works but I have very few players that would be on the cusp.

Starting with the Pacific Division


Seattle selects Anthony Duclair!

The young forward will be a staple with us. He might not have reached his full potential with his past teams but with us, he will have multiple opportunities to succeed


Seattle selects Nick Cousins!

Another young forward that will be a key cog in our bottom 6.


Seattle selects Mark Giordano!

A number 1 D and Norris contender from the 18-19 season for free? Of course we will take him off your hands Calgary!


Seattle selects Colby Cave

A player that will add depth to our AHL team.


Seattle selects Paul Ladue!

This relatively unknown defensemen will be add to our blueline that will look to compete right away.


We have a trade to announce! The Seattle Seals have acquired defenseman Mario Ferraro from San Jose in exchange for taking Brenden Dillon in the Expansion Draft.


Seattle is obviously taking Brenden Dillon!

Another heavy hitter on the blue line. After seeing what he has done with San Jose this year, we are very happy to add a top 4 D and a great D prospect!



Seattle selects Erik Haula!

This center has already experienced the pains of going through the Expansion Draft and the transition to a brand new team. We feel that will be crucial to the success of our team. It doesn't hurt that he is a pretty good hockey player too!

The young netminder will be crucial to our success by backstopping us in the playoffs.

Seattle selects Connor Murphy!

This young D will be a huge addition to our D core. He has been the best defensemen on a Hawks blueline with the likes of Duncan Keith this season.


We have another trade to announce! The Seattle Seals have acquired prospect Shane Bowers and a 3rd round pick in the up coming draft from the Colorado Avalanche for Expansion Considerations.


Seattle selects Sven Andrighetto!

We are very pleased to add a young sniper like Sven. He was one of the top choices from a young Avs team and getting Shane Bowers and the pick on top made this a very easy choice for us.


Seattle selects Eric Staal!

We are pleased to add a very underrated center to our team. As of right now, there have been no contract talks with the up and coming free agent but we believe that with our overall team depth, the new experience, and the trust to take him as our pick in the Expansion Draft, Eric Staal will be a Seal next season.


Seattle selects Jordan Greenway!

This former second round pick has shown that he belongs on an NHL team. We believe given the chance he will flourish similar to another ex Wild forward taken in a previous Expansion Draft.


Seattle selects Juuse Saros!

We believe Saros is the real prize of the Expansion Draft. We have seen what he has done behind a Predators team and we are excited to have him as our future in net.


We have another trade to announce! Seattle has acquired center Tyler Bozak from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Expansion Draft considerations.

Adding both Perron and Bozak to our team is a fantastic win for us. We add two good top 6 players from a struggling St. Louis team.

Adding a player of Henrique's quality is always a win in my books! Getting him at 50% of his cap dump is even more of a win!

We add yet another top 4 D that we believe will help solidify our second pairing with Connor Murphy.


We have a trade to announce! Seattle gets prospect Liam Foudy from the Blue Jackets in exchange for taking center Riley Nash in the expansion draft.

There's no arguing that Nash has struggling recently but we still believe he can be a solid addition to a new team. Adding recent first round pick Liam Foudy, just adds to our already solid prospect pool.

This experienced center will help add depth to our center position and top 6 that is already overflowing with talent. We are very happy to add someone to help in a leadership role.


Seattle selects Josh Ho-Sang!

Everyone deserves a second chance right? Well here in Seattle, we are prepared to give this immensely talented young froward that chance!

Same thought process as Ho-Sang. We in Seattle believe that this young forward can turn it around and be the player that we believe he can be.

This very talented defenseman is a welcome addition to our blue line. We prioritized adding guys that can take over games on both ends of the ice and we believe Nutivaara is a prime example of that!


Seattle selects Jared McCann!

This young forward will help anchor our bottom 6. He adds scoring depth to a team that isn't lacking in it at all. We believe given the right linemates he will turn into a huge addition in our eventual Stanley Cup run.

After much deliberation on this pick, we continued with the trend of adding young players that we believe can turn it around.

This young netminder has helped a struggling Sabres team stay afloat this season. We believe adding him to our previously selected other two goalies will create our three-headed monster in the crease.

Another up coming UFA top line player. While there have been no contract talks as of yet, we believe Gustav will see our team and the weakened Pacific division as a chance at a fresh start.

Another young player that hasn't been given a real shot.

This dangerous winger has proven to be a top end sniper. We believe given the right linemates and opportunity he will be our version of William Karlsson.

Another young player not given the opportunity to succeed. We see Nick as a valued addition to our depth.


We have one more trade to announce today! The Seattle Seals have acquired a 4th round pick in this coming draft and a 2nd round pick in the 2020 entry draft from the Lightning in exchange for not selecting forward JT Miller in the expansion draft.
