We believe this trade and the signing of Vokoun gives us a top 5 team with top 10 prospect group. In addition, we have our 1st, 2nd, 55th overall compensatory, and Edmonton's 2nd next year, so adding to the prospect pool, or acquiring a game breaker at the deadline won't be difficult. It was difficult to give up Havlat, but we feel Richards, Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Couture, Clowe, and Setoguchi is a scary good forward group and Vokoun and Niittymaki can give us top 3 goaltending. The way we saw it, getting a gamebreaking goalie at the deadline is a lot more difficult than grabbing a #3 d-man or top 6 forward. Also, at 4 million (and missing the over 35 contract by a day, this is a spectacular deal for both sides.
1. Matthew Nieto (top 6 LW)
2. Ryan Strome (top 6 C)
3. Charlie Coyle (top 6 PF)
4. Harri Sateri (starting goalie)
5. Taylor Doherty (top 4 d-man)
6. Alex Stalock (starting goalie)
7. Tyler Cuma (top 4 d-man)
8. Nick Petrecki (top 4 d-man)
9. Justin Braun (top 4 d-man)
10. Brandon Mashinter (top 6 PF)
11. Zach Dalpe (top 6 C)
12. Benn Ferrerio (top 9 C/RW)
13. Marek Viedensky (shutdown center)
14. Mike Moore (NHL ready bottom pairing d-man)
15. Cam Macintyre (top 9 PF)
