Meh. Still unsure whether or not he’ll be in a trade.

Good shot suppressor. Played his role well. No complaints from me.

Read the comments on in response to them announcing that. Yikes.

Really though, some people won't see the value, but it is good to have a competent defensive player back especially with how few we have.

Accepting his QO always seemed like the best move for him, given it gets him to UFA. Going to arbitration would've run the risk of the team getting a good decision and then electing for 2 years, eating into a year of his UFA. Glad he's back, even if it's his last hurrah here.

He should have waited for the offer sheet from the Penguins. Botterill and Rutherford had a deal worked out to to make Botts appear more GManly. It was to be for $1.6M and a dollar. It would have given Botterill the opportunity to bang his shoe on the podium and shout "We will match any offer. No one is going to steal players we spent years developing!"

For those who like to complain... Gus and Larry vs. every other forward in the NHL over the last 12 years, based on deployment.

For him to get as many points as he did......seems remarkable given his DZ%. Only one in that top 20 got more......Marcus Kruger, and that was on a far better team.

Yep, I know. But hey, the lowest hanging fruit is to complain about his goal totals and ignore how he gets used. A 5-10 goal guy who can PK and shot suppress better than average actually has value.

Or we can get all undie-bunched about draft position or something rather than looking at what he can do that can help and how there has been NO ONE the current GM has found who is capable in that role. The next good checking forward Botterill finds will be his first.

That was never a risk for Girgensons in arbitration. First off, term must be elected in the brief of the party that had arbitration filed against it. So term is elected before the hearing, not after. Secondly, the Sabres could not elect a two-year term anyway, as Girgensons is within a year of being eligible for Group 3 free agency.
