I expect the various options in net means it'll get lower priority in decision making.

Getting the ratio of defensemen to forwards will be a bigger challenge.

I believe they'll max out on the best dmen available. But then again, as a Caps fan I've heard McPhee emphasize the importance of the center ice position, and he has often drafted centers in first rounds. His teams tend to be a bit forward star heavy. In any event, skaters will be the priority.

I could see him going with an experienced veteran like Luongo or Howard if available: someone safe, reliable, steady enough to rely on.

McPhee builds winning teams. Guys who can score and guys who work hard (coach can mold defensively) will be important.
