That's surprising to me, because I thought he was doing ok in Sweden and this seems like a step back if he actually goes that route.
Sure, he is no super high end prospect, but when I saw him play I liked him well enough and I figured he would either stick in Sweden (maybe try to get on a bigger team) or return to Germany to split time between the DNL and DEL2 or Oberliga.

I just hope his agent (if he is the one potentially pushing this move) is really acting in his best interest.
But who knows, he might not actually go to the NCDC or if he does, maybe it turns out to be a good move for him in the end.
But with little I know about it, I am sceptical.

Eliteprospects lists him as being lined up to play with Lidingö again next season.

That can naturally change. And if he has the same agent as Volkmann, then you'd have to think something is cooking.

Thank you! Naturally this means my presence on HF will diminish moving forward - but I’ll still try to chime in every now and then.

And yes, my name is Steven in case you all were wondering.
Noooooo! We can’t lose one of the few people who keep the German section going!

I second this, but I am happy for you Steven, and hope you have success and also a ton of fun with your new job.
And even if you cannot post as much I hope you will still find time to read the board somewhat regularly at least.
Because, and I know this is a little selfish, it is more fun for me to post stuff, when I believe people are actually reading it, and as @pgfan66 has noted the Germany section isn't exactly bustling with activity.

Anyway, all the best to you.

I’ll still contribute every now and then, but instead of spending an hour or two on here a day, I’ll spend a couple of hours a week. My contributions to the prospect section I’ll put to the wayside, but I’ll still chime in every now and then here, then on the Windsor Spitfires forum.

Appreciate the kind words Mav - I’ll definitely still read this section of HF. don’t worry about that haha.

Not really related to German players, but since the interviewee is German, I hope it's fine to share here anyway – thought this interview with the Spokane Chiefs' Euro scout was interesting:

Just know that I read and appreciate all of it! :)

Also congratulations and all the best to @GermanSpitfire moving forward! Hope you will have a great time at McKeens and take a big step forward in your hockey journey!

Julius Sumpf played his first pre-season game for the Moncton Wildcats last night.
Based on the number of faceoffs he took (28), I'd guess that he played as their 1st line center.

He scored a goal on the power play and won 21 of those 28 faceoffs. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything beyond the boxscore. No videos or game recaps.

Quick pre-season update about our CHL players :)

OHL:
Ryan Del Monte had a goal (on the power play) in his first pre-season appearance for Mississauga.

WHL:
Luca Hauf did not play in the pre-season opener for Seattle.

QMJHL:
Julius Sumpf did not score and was -1 in his second game for Moncton, but once again did well on faceoffs, winning 10 of 15.
Btw. Anybody signed up for CHL TV (no need for a subscription just a free account) can watch and re-watch the pre-season games of Moncton for free.

Norwin Panocha made his pre-season debut for Chicoutimi and recorded a goal and an assist and was +2 in a 3-4 loss to Sherbrooke.

Thanks for the heads up!

And that's a nice little Q debut for Panocha.

Another pre-season update:
  • Mississauga beat Barrie 10-5 yesterday. Ryan Del Monte had a 4 point game (1g 3a) and was +3.
  • Sumpf had no points and was -2 (7 of 15 on faceoffs) as Moncton lost 3-7 to Acadie-Bathurst.
  • Panocha with another good game on the scoresheet. Chicoutimi lost 3-4 to Baie-Comeau in the shootout. Panocha collected 2 assists, but finished -1. The game can be watched here: CHL TV

Sounds like a good move to me. Lutz needs to play and play and play some more. That is a whole lot easier to achieve playing in the USHL than by staying in Munich.

Ah, feels good to be able to post again. After years, I finally got around asking to get access to my account back, after I missed out on changing my email-address in time for that server-switch ages ago :D

So, Lutz is not playing for Green Bay tonight and is also no longer listed on their roster.
Anybody heard anything about where he is headed, or will he still go to the Gamblers and it's just taking a little longer?

EDIT: It seems it's just taking a little more time to get the transfer approved and he will likely start playing soon. I am just a little confused, because I had seen him listed on the Gamblers' roster and now he is gone. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Rough start for Panocha last night (no points and -4). I hope this ends up being an outlier.

Sumpf on the other hand appears to have had another solid game. It looks like he is the 1st line center and plays in all situations.
He scored his first goal of the season off a 2-on-1.

Rough indeed. He was coming off not only an NHL preseason game, but also 3 points in 3 prospect camp games.

And had been so good in the Q preseason before that.

Sumpf on the other hand appears to have had another solid game. It looks like he is the 1st line center and plays in all situations.
He scored his first goal of the season off a 2-on-1.

I had noticed that he was already getting 1st line minutes in the preseason, despite not really producing.

The team beat Cape Breton last weekend 9-1 and he had 3 primary assists, two on several of the initial tallies in the game.
