Enough people have given me the "green light" On this thread, so figured I would make it now.

I am gauging interest right now on a potential new idea I am thinking bout.

Would you guys on this board be interested in a segment I make every two weeks / Month on the Canucks state of affairs, and pretty much make a "rant" show.

Maybe call it LB Rant Classic: Episode 1 (etc).

I call the radio frequently, but I feel like a show dedicated to these boards and Reddit might be a decent idea. (I ran a Show with a few others called Canucks cast the past two years, but it took up so much time, and I got busy with work, so I stopped doing it. My first guest was Brendan Burke from the Utica Comments PBP team).

1 - If you would like to see this happen, just make a post about it below
2 - If not, then hate on me in this thread if you like :naughty:

PS - I would be posting episodes on Youtube. The "Episodes" will be about 5 - 10 minutes long. I would be taking and discussions topics on these boards during the show as well.

As I said in the other thread, absolutely. Maybe get guys like Botchford or Gallagher in if you can the odd time, and also a fellow hfboards member who wants to rant with you. Your rants are gold, but they always seem to cut you off early on 1040 so this would give you a better chance to voice displeasure.

I've thought for a while that we should have our own HF show where we can bring up discussions and every few weeks put out some content. That way we can educate the normies who claim to be Canuck fans why they're wrong about everything :)

Agreed with clunk. Would be interested in a format where you can extend your thoughts before being cut off.

I would like to have you on as well Rev, we work well as a team. You really shine when talking about prospects.

You should consider running something on a streaming site so you could have Video and use Skype so callers can call in and just go off.

I used to do some on Twitch, but that's primarily for gaming. I know that YouTube has gotten into game streaming, but not sure if you can do "Chat" shows with it. But setting up and using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) is pretty simple. The advantage of course would be so that you could have a talk show like you see on TV, but also be able to show your viewers video of examples that you're talking about live during your show.

*EDIT* Just checked and you can stream live talk shows on YouTube. Youtube also allows you to use OBS, which I'm very familiar with and it's extremely easy to show video/pictures, etc while you're streaming. Once you use it a couple of times it's VERY easy.

I have very little knowledge on how that would work, and setting it up.

It's a solid idea tho, for sure.

I used OBS before, but making it so people can hear me, and skype callers at the same time without hearing my headset / mic would be tricky no?

That would be no problem to set up, the problem is that it's live and you have to deal with pranksters

I doubt I would get many pranksters considering it would pretty much be only HF fans calling in lol

No, setting it up is actually pretty easy. I was a casual streamer on Twitch for gaming with about 1300 followers, but had a pretty solid base of people (For a gamer) that watched me every couple of nights.

You would have to deal with the odd prankster I suppose, or you could simple use it to host guests, etc much like the Bro Jake show which doesn't allow callers.

The guests you have would call in via Skype and OBS would stream everything out as it happens, live.... well, there is actually a 5-10 second delay. But basically live.

That's very interesting, Would this idea be preferred then a youtube episodic show?.

Opinions?

You could do the stream, and then upload the archived stream after it's completed to Youtube, for those of us not always able to watch live, and just have each one of those as your episodes and I think that would work pretty damn well. This idea has a lot of potential.

You basically set up OBS and it records everything that you show on a particular monitor... so hopefully you have a 2nd (or 3rd) monitor. The stream would show whatever you wanted shown on your primary monitor and you use your second monitor to drag in items you want to show that you have lined up to use (Videos, pictures, stat sheets, etc).

Check out some of the streamers on Twitch.tv

Here is their link for their gaming talking shows... you'd just be basically do a Hockey talk show...
http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Gaming%20Talk%20Shows

There are also lots of neat little things you can do to customize your channel to make it look the way you like and you can switch scenes. So you can go from one scene where your webcam basically takes up the whole scene when you're taking calls or talking to a guest... or perhaps the guest is shown on cam as well.

Then you could make a second scene where perhaps your webcam is just in the corner of your screen and the background/rest of your stream is your web browser where you are showing viewers things you are wanting to talk about at that time. Then you can macro the scenes so you switch from one to another to another just by pressing a key.

I don't really have the hockey knowledge to contribute much, but I'd love to help any way I can. I just can't enjoy local media because of how terrible it is. It would be nice to have some sort of local show that is tolerable and insightful.

It's not like you'll get many viewers to start but maybe at some point you'll get a pretty decent following and maybe enlighten a few people along the way.

I'd be down to call in/contribute to this. Never really wanted to call 1040 cause I wouldn't last long before they cut me off.

The problem with TSN 1040 is they cut off people within 10/20 seconds, no matter if they have a good point or not.

Only people like Tanbir and jordan or w/e his name get more time, and it's mostly to mock them.

A good example of the opposite is the flames radio people, pat steinberg for example gives people over a minute, sometimes even 2 / 3 minutes.

They let them have all the points, and then say, is that everything?, and goes onto the next caller.

It's kind of crazy how little the actual radio personalities have in terms of hockey knowledge.

Just yesterday Sekeres asked Lebrun I believe "If hansen was offered for Drouin, who says no". Lebrun basically laughed and said tampa would say no.

It's a ridiculous question, and shows how little knowledge they really have on value.

There are so many media outlets now to get information, HF boards, reddit, twitter, tsn, sportsnet.

For some people to continue to prove they don't really pay attention is crazy considering they get paid too.

Just look at this.

@BlakePriceTSN Should #Canucks trade Auston Matthews to ARI for 1st rounder, OEL plus prospect? #HalfSerious

It just shows how little they know about the value of players. Like Matthews is worth a 1st, a #1 D-man AND a prospect, it's nuts to me.

I find team1040 is horrible for fan call ins, Van media/broadcasting is so dry.

I was working in Edmonton for a couple of years and they would actually have discussions with their callers. I remember my first time tuning in listening in on a conversation (I thought it was an interview) about do they draft Hall or Seguin.
When they said "Ok thanks, next caller" I just about lost it.

Same thing with a couple experiences while I was in the US, actual conversations and discussions on sports radio. Not this one and done, barely scratch the surface crap we have.

Exactly.

For example, I know I have strong opinions, I can change them from time to time (ala Horvat), but I usually have a reason to defend what I say, It's not like I say something for the sake of saying it, I truly believe what I say.

I thought Horvat was gonna suck because of his skating.
I thought Schroader was gonna suck because of his size (after a year into the draft).
I thought Kassian was gonna never live up to his calling.
I thought losing Ehrhoff at the time was a mistake.
I thought Pushing for Nylander over Virtanen was something I was confident in BECAUSE he played vs men and flourished despite his size.

I was right on some, wrong on others, and some are To be determined, but I go out and say what I truly think.

I have wanted to be in the Radio Industry my entire life, but I also wanted to be a computer animator.

But Money was a huge problem, so I took the cheap route, I went to a community college, and I got a college Education, and it turned into nothing for me.

Eventually I found an amazing job as a dealer in Cascades Casino down here in Langley, and I now have the money to go out and buy things I like, live a life, and do some of the things I wanted to growing up.

Not to mention Finding the love of my life in the process in the past year, coming off depression from a previous break up.

I love the Canucks, Talking about them, trolling them at times, and most of all following them, It's something I have been passionate about since I was a kid.

I want to make a radio show or Podcast show, or youtube show, or twitch show and let people listen and just enjoy talking about the things they enjoy, which is the canucks.

And if I get paid some gas money in the process, then that would be great.

No idea why I went on about this, but hey figured why not let people in a little bit about my life.

Well to be honest I think us fans would like a forum that isnt moderated by air time/advertisement revenue ratios. Just a place where the truth can be spoken and perhaps have an honest and in depth interview with some of the people in the hockey business and locals alike.

An average Joes approach with a breakdown of coaching, GM trade/contract decisions and personnel. Perhaps actual numbers being looked at, stat lines, other trading options.

I couldnt believe how knowledgeable some Edmonton fans were on the radio speaking of how the players actually played the game, their decision making (and in some cases lack thereof) how coaching/plays had an effect at certain points of the game with breakdown.

Good on you for following your passion, I believe there is room for someone with creativity in this market.

Look at the provies format with multiple topics, the fact that its not afraid to take some shots at those who may deserve it and it has approach with some humor too. We are gonna need some humor in the dark days coming.

I'm glad you know your passion and you're still working towards it. Sometimes you have to make your own way, and if you put the passion you have for the Canucks into your show, I'm sure it will be a great show.

1040 used to be better for call ins, except for Pratt who is a prima donna, captain cutoff pretty much.

Now it's all corporate.

I think the bottom line is that people express an opinion here, or on the radio, or with other people in small groups because they want to be heard plain and simple and that's all cool.

Exchanging ideas and thought on a topic people share a passion on, ie like the Canucks, is just part of the human experience.
