Finally, have a rookie that could contend for the Calder and he's scratched for game one probably going to be in and out of the line-up all year despite having the ability to score 20-25 goals.

Just watched Hischier, Bratt, Butcher for the Devils but god forbid Boeser be in the line-up for this team, he only scored 8 goals in his last 14 games.

Sportsnet got a new station on 650 AM this season. TSN 1040 lost the broadcast rights.

Bit of history tonight. first time since 1997 that John Shorthouse will be at home and not calling the Canucks season opener. Brendan Batchlor will call the game on the radio and Dave Randorff on TV

Ovie has two more goals tonight that is 5 in 2 games

how long will it take for a Canuck player to score 5 goals.

on second thought how many games before the Canucks as a team score 5 goals

sad streak break. i guess randorf is not exactly an interloper.

Six. Two hat-tricks in four periods for AO. Not a bad start to the season.

Kassian looked good splitting time on the Oilers' second line in their opener against the Flames. Yamamoto's sitting out, so Kassian gets another chance to shine there. I still can't believe that one playoff game he crushed.

(And this isn't sulking about trading him, he needed the scenery changes and screwups to stop being an idiot off the ice.)

I cannot believe Boeser isn't in the lineup tonight. I have no words to explain how I feel. Please tell me they aren't going to destroy this kid by letting him rot in the press box for 1/3 the season.

Someone needs to animate Willie-arya Stark taking off the mask and revealing Travis Stark. GoT and Canucks, instant success.

Can someone help me out here? I'm in Iceland right now, 7 hours ahead of Vancouver, and I'm trying to get the pregame show. 1040 has Lions, and 650 is just going around the NHL, I haven't heard the Canucks mentioned at all in the 25 minutes I've been listening.

Is the game in an hour and a half or what? Am I on the wrong day?

What are you expecting an hour and a half before the national anthems even start?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Boeser as a regular healthy scratch. But it won't destroy him, he's too good.

What it will do is make the Canucks a worse team. And harder to watch and cheer for.
