Purely speculative, but I feel some of the changes McLellan has made lately have been forced on him from above. His stubbornness is legendary.

Stubbornness has been a massive problem this year. The god-awful PK alignment? Run it 60 games despite league worst results. Keeping Caggiula and Letestu on PK despite awful results. Letestu as shooter on PP despite awful results. No PP time for PoolParty no matter what. We are at game 73 and we still dont know who the hell Slepyshev is yet Cammy still gets big minutes. Refusal to play Nuge and McDavid together until what game 70? Awful stubbornness and its cost the team big.

Great coaches are the ones who can adapt and out coach the other coach. Not guys who continue to try and ram a square peg into a round hole.
