Yes he does, just seems like a one touch seam pass to Laine is open at times and Wheeler doesn't make that pass.

Maurice talked about that today. They felt he was losing a step after his first NHL camp and busy start to the season mostly on the road. If the organization feels they are starting to wear the kid down they did the right thing with some load management. Last thing they should do is grind a 18 year old into the ground. That would be horrible prospect development.

I have always wondered what our PP1 would look like if Connor and Wheeler switched spots. Connor has a great shot and one timer. We would have dual shot threats from both half walls.
Surprised it’s never been tried before.

Wheeler's not a shooting threat and seems to basically shit his pants if Laine manages to get him the puck.

Wheeler's been poor this year. Sadly. I think Ehlers's been good and I'd try him with Laine and Scheifele. But for some reason Maurice treats Scheifele and Wheeler as siamese twins.
