GAME NOTES
* The scenario for the Detroit Red Wings is simple: Beat the Bruins tonight and see their playoff streak extended to a 25th season. Lose and things get a little dicey. A Boston victory in regulation would leave the teams tied with one game to play. For the Red Wings, that's Saturday in New York against the Rangers. For Boston, it's Saturday at home against Ottawa. Both could also ended up as the second wild card team in the Eastern Conference depending on what happens with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers, who are holding down the second wild card spot, are tied with Boston with 91 points. The Red Wings have 93. Philadelphia has one game in hand on both.
* Boston has won two of three meetings with the Red Wings this season. The Bruins won 3-1 Nov. 14 in Boston behind goals by Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Torey Krug. Justin Abdelkader scored for Detroit. Boston also won the rematch 3-2 Nov. 25 in Detroit on Frank Vatrano's second goal of the game 3:32 into overtime. Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar scored for the Red Wings. Detroit's lone victory was in a wild 6-5 game Feb. 14 at Joe Louis Arena, where the Red Wings capped a five-game homestand by earning nine of 10 points. Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Darren Helm scored twice each for the Red Wings, Jimmy Howard got the victory after replacing Petr Mrazek, who allowed three goals on six shots as Boston built a 3-1 first-period lead.
* The Bruins are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. ... Bergeron has four goals in his last five games. ... Loui Eriksson has three goals and four assists during a six-game points streak vs. the Red Wings. ... Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has a 2-4-1 record in his last nine games.
* The Red Wings saw their eight-game streak with at least one power-play goal end in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers but they still rank 12th in the NHL with a manpower advantage at 19.0 percent. Boston has been even better this season, ranking seventh at 20.8 percent. When it comes to penalty killing, Boston is 11th at 82.0 percent and Detroit is 14th at 81.5.
