Rundblad made that one mistake in the 1st period and subsequently was benched for the rest of the game in typical Q fashion. His TOI tonight - 4:08.

We still haven't seen enough of Rundblad to say much about his game. He's been on the ice for total of 20:09 in 3 games since being acquired. I'd admit he's been pretty bad in his own zone but I wish Q would give him a bit more leeway.

If a defenseman is bad in his own zone, he has no business playing in the NHL.

I certainly hope Stephen Johns signs with the Chicago Blackhawks by the August 15 deadline.

I was at the game tonight! Thank god they won.
More annoying than fans coming in here after a loss, is an away fan taunting home fans in their own barn. Get the hell out.
ANYWAYS.
It was a good game. Teuvo looked really good despite not putting up any points. I felt bad for him when he tripped on a rush chance.

Why do players from Finland give such great quotes? Is it a coincidence or is it the way the Finnish language translates to English? Seems that just like with Raanta, Teuvo's syntax is both interesting and adorable.

I think it's a mix of not having the comfort of talking in your native tongue (could lead to being deer-in-headlights) and Finns usually trying to be as blunt as possible when it comes to answering questions.

I hear that Toews guy is OK defensively too.....

Kruger is also defensively responsible. However, I don't think it's a stretch to say Teuvo may already be better than Shaw. He certainly looked better than Pirri ever did.

In that limited time he has shown he does understand how to play defense as a defenseman. I've never seen a pro defensemen move forward or lunge at a play like he does.

A basic fundamental mistake that apparently is beyond correction at this point. Then we could discuss the angles that he takes.:shakehead

"I think it’s easy to play here with these guys. Everybody’s so good.":laugh:

It's like he can finally start to shine now that he don't have to drag rest of the Jokerit behind him anymore. :D

So any defenders of Rundblad want to comment on his play?

he's been pretty average so far- slow on his feet more than he should be. however your hate-on for him has almost reached Kane/fiddy levels of comedy. since he's been he has largely been fine.

I feel sorry for Leddy having to cover for stumps like Rundblad and Brookbank.

Aside from that big mistake at the beginning of the game, I thought Rundblad was just OK. Needs to improve his skating quite a bit, and make better decisions, but you can see that there is some potential there.

I guess I need to remind people that he is still only 23 years old, which is still pretty young for a defenseman.

Tivo is better on faceoffs than I thought he'd be. America runs on Duncan (Keith). ;)

I think that 100% isn't going to be the norm. He'll propably be a tad below 50% this season. That would still make him one of the best rookies in the FO dot.

Beat me to it. Does not take very good angles at all.

He's been very average, at best, so far. Not as good of a skater as I was expecting him to be, at least not from what I've seen so far.

I agree he hasn't been impressive. But the Hawk scouts obviously see some worth in him that they traded a 2nd for him. I'm not gonna write him off based on limited ice time.

Kind of hard to evaluate a guy after 20 minutes of NHL icetime, especially when that's spread over something like 3 weeks.

I do agree that preliminary indications aren't real promising though.
