Season series: The San Jose Sharks have won two of three games against the Arizona Coyotes this season. The Coyotes' victory came at Gila River Arena on Thursday, when Arizona captain Shane Doan scored the game-winning goal with 1:31 remaining in the third period of a 3-1 victory.
Goalie Mike Smith is scheduled to start after Louis Domingue stopped 34 of 35 shots on Saturday. Smith is 2-0-0 after returning from an injury that kept him out for three months. "We're happy to have two strong goaltenders, but if you don't score you can't win," forward Martin Hanzal told the Coyotes website.
San Jose could be without defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who is day-to-day and did not play Saturday because of a lower-body injury. "Anytime he's out, you're concerned," coach Peter DeBoer told CSN Bay Area. "He's a key guy for us. I guess the silver lining is it's better to have this now than three or four weeks from now.
The good news is it's not long-term, so he will be back." Forward Matt Nieto also missed the game after blocking a shot with his hand against the Coyotes. He is day-to-day.
Goalie James Reimer is likely to start after Martin Jones made 25 saves Saturday
