Hornqvist is a pure effort player. The Pens need more guys who play like him.

What the Penguins don't need more of is snipers who float around and depend on star players to set them up.

:handclap:

He's the only Penguin that is even remotely hard to play against right now. The guy continues to go to the net over and over, long after the rest of his teamates have thrown in the towel.

A sniper like Neal wouldn't fix **** right now. He might get a few extra goals to mask how bad we are, but no roster changes would fix what is killing this team right now.

Alternatively, I'm not sure a coaching change will make a big difference either. This team is, for the most part, playing the same way they played under Bylsma; the only difference is Bylsma put more focus on offense at a sacrifice to defense, and Johnston puts more focus on defense at a sacrifice to offense.

No reason in contract law why they couldn't.

Correct. But if you hire an interim coach from outside the organization, then fire him and hire another coach, you're left paying 3 head coaches for the remainder of this season. Plus whatever is left on each of their contracts. Also, if your hire is Boudreau (for example), you're also giving up a 2nd round pick to hire him.

well we have one of the best offensive groups in the league and a questionable defensive group. Play to maximize your strengths, not to minimize your weaknesses. MJ is coaching not to lose instead of coaching to win.
