Goring was an off the wall choice as Bruins coach in 85-86 replacing Sinden who finished the previous season after firing Cheevers.

At the time we all thought Goring was just a temp until Harry thought Milbury was ready and then when Goring was fired Terry O'Reilly was named coach.

I suppose this is on topic since we’re discussing Butch Goring, but was there a big name big time coach they could have brought in? Or was Goring the best candidate available at the time?

I wasn’t following the Bruins very closely until O’Reilly became the coach, so I’m curious about “the process” at the time.

Still remember when the B's brought in Goring as a player towards the end of his career. He was such a smart player and what a work ethic. Just looked up his stats on hockeydb and he had average nearly a point per game in half a season. Don't recall why he fell off the map after point...thought he was still a very serviceable player.

Bjork was great against the Stars. No reason for him to sit, unless he's hurt. I don't think he's hurt. Dumb.

He was good in the third period, but before that he was pretty mediocre. He was also benched because of a pretty egregious turnover and hasn't been effective for a while now. I think a seat upstairs, even for a few games, isn't a bad idea. He's clearly hitting a wall.

Anyone know if the B’s are wearing black today? The Islanders wore white when they did Tonelli’s number last week. I wonder if they’re doing that again
I think the Bruins should wear black at home AND away except when they play Pittsburgh; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; or Anaheim on the road.

Best uniform in the NHL in my opinion.

Even if they didn’t wear black all the time, it’d be cool to see more all-color matchups against teams like Montreal and Toronto
Couldn’t agree more.

As far as the players themselves are concerned, I’m looking forward to seeing this new and improved second line bring a little more balance to the offense. I have to miss the game today, but I’ll be that rude guy checking his phone looking for updates all day.
