We‘re gonna fight 'em all
A seven point deficit couldn't hold us back
Five wins we rip ’em off
Taking our western f***ing playoff spot back

And we gotta play hard tonight
No, we can’t forget
Teams coming from behind
Only twenty games left

And the message coming from us fans
Says, "Boys bring it home!”

Don't wanna hear about it
Every single trolls got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From Decade of Darkness, so many years of Hell

And if we catch you coming back our way
we’re gonna serve Fists to you
And that ain't what you want to hear
But that's what we’ll do
And the feeling coming from our bones
Says, "Oil bring it home!”

Next stop Colorado
A great team with an amazing core
Our Boys going to give it all
Make the sweat drip out of every pore

And they’ll be skating, they’ll be passing, they’ll be shooting
Rightly trying to score
All the Boys are gonna bleed for us
Cuz, there‘s no doubt anymore

And we cheer for them on the road
Boys bring it on home!

can't hear that white stripes riff without a 'we're the Nottingham Panthers' chant popping into my head, which i've just realised would also work perfectly with Edmonton Oilers instead of Nottingham Panthers

I'd expect them to have a hard go at the Avs right from the beginning, we'll see how things pan out in goal if Smitty gets the nod. As long as they're competing hard and put up a proper fight, I could life with a kick in the groin against a powerhouse team like Colorado.
Not too sad I can't watch this one and will turn to the highlight routine tomorrow morning.

Go Oilers!

Be interesting to see if they sacrifice Smith to the wolves in this game, and save Koskinen for the more winnable game the next night against Dallas.
I would characterize it as a do not compete. I think he’ll do the right thing and play koskinen in this game. Then 3 days rest for his next game.

Ah yes, Colorado.

Whenever I think of Colorado, I think of the year 1998. It was a very interesting year. I was 10 years old, in grade 5, played goalie in hockey that winter full time and cujo was my main inspiration.

But there was tons of drama that year as an Oilers fan. Peter Pocklington's money whoas were at the forefront all season as hr was going into bankruptcy and was now selling the team. All season long, the question in every fans mind was, will we the Edmonton Oilers survive past the spring of 1998, as a buyer from Houston had put in a bid to buy the team and move the Oilers to Texas.

On top of that, Doug Weight has suffered a serious knee injury during the season, and as he was such key player to the line up, there was serious questions on if the Oilers could avoid having their season ruined, along with Cujo being a pending ufa, rumors were swirling around that he might be dealt to Philly.

BUT Glen Sather elected to hang onto Cujo, as the team on the ice managed to win enough games will Weight was injured, that the playoffs were not out of the question. Arnott was dealt to New Jersey for Bill Guerin, whom Dougie had instant chemistry with, and his goal scoring prowess was key to the team with Weight recovering.

Oilers squeek into the playoffs in the 8th seed and draw the Colorado Avalanche as the 1st rd opponent.

Oilers fell.behind 3 games to 1, and being one of the very few Oiler fans amongst a bunch of bandwagoners who were on the Avalanche train, teases me, and relentlessly made fun of me in school because my faith in the Oilers would not waiver. And sure enough, Av's faithful get cocky in the media, looking past the Oilers and thinking they had Ana automatic ticket to the conference finals with another re-match with the Red Wings, pissing off the entire Oilers dressing room (to this day I remember Todd Merchant's rant).

Curtis Joseph goes into God mode and the Oilers make the comeback.

This Save is often over looked, but forever burnt into my 10yr old brain.

f*** you Colorado, Let's Go Oilers!!!!

PS f*** you Texas for trying to take the team away from us back then

I think trade deadline day is about as great a day to play the number 1 team in the league as any. Typically it's day where a top tier team can be distracted by potential moves or actual moves which may be able to level the playing field.
