Welcome back to "Who Is That Player?"
Today we learn about tonight's starter, that legendary Shark backstop,
Magnus Chrona.
^Either that's terrible photoshop or bro needs help dressing
Magnus, as you may have guessed, hails from Sweden. The 6'5" goaltender was originally drafted in the 5th round by Tampa Bay 15 picks after Riley Damiani.
Taking an unorthodox path, Chrona opted to come over and play NCAA hockey for DU where he helped the Pioneers to a Natty while also picking up All-Rookie team honors and Goaltender of the Year in '22-23.
However he wasn't destined to wear the Lightning bolt as he was dealt west to San Jose in a trade that sent Fredrik Claesson to Tampa for a grand total of 9 games.
Turning pro, Chrona has thus far posted sub-Matt Murray numbers for the 'Cuda, who like their parent club are utterly atrocious.
From what I can tell the Sharks board failed to complete their Top 20 prospect voting and just sort of petered out. Chrona was not ranked by the time they lost interest.
