The Canucks fan base has always been reactionary at the game, it’s been like this for decades.
Something big needs to happen before they get into it, unless the playoffs
Crowd sounded pretty good in the 3rd period.

These were two of the most physically challenging games against Washington and the Lightning back to back. Not surprised we’ve seen som injuries and likely see a couple more bumps and bruises coming out of this game.

I don't know how likely it is after these last couple games. We really needed the 2 points against the Caps.

Gonna need to take at least 2/3 games in regulation against Vegas.

Nice to see Miller keep the streak alive. Dude is playing out of his mind right now.

That Tampa bay is a beauty. Big and tough and totally dominated down low. They honestly coasted in the 2nd period.

Tampa has some good skill don’t get me wrong but that is easily the toughest team we’ve played all year.

Toughest like physical?

or toughest like skill?

because colorado beat the sh{t out of us once this year I believe

Frustrating game. Gave it a go and some good individual efforts but little puck luck, poor start and facing a very good net minder. Lightening was there to be had but Canucks lacked much finish and and just don't have enough quality up and down the line up, right now, to get over the top in such games

Good

Miller - team can only mount attacks with him on the ice. Can carry the team only so far.

HIghmore - playing, more and more, a more central role on the team. If nothing else the team has found a good foot soldier in him

Motte - YOU RESIGN THIS PLAYER!!!!! Another excellent effort. After Miller and Garland looked the most likely to score

Garland - have to love the compete. Made things happen almost every shift and too bad on the goal that should have been.

Schenn - provided physical push back all game. Good in his end.

Pearson - thought he played a solid game and helped produce some chances. No star but a positive.

Bad

Hughes - terrible time getting his shot through and terrible start to the game. Don't understand taking him away from Schenn. Why change what was working. Him and Hamonic got obliterated in their opening shifts and Hughes was simply abused. Looked a lot like last year. Again shoddy on the PP.

Chaisson - playing better than he was earlier but still a drag on the team. Should not in the League. If the team could actually find a replacement, who could contribute, it would be an immense upgrade.

Ugly

Boeser - skating was so bad he was getting zone behind the play. Have to suspect he has some groin issues or something. But that doesn't explain the brutal way he gave and received passes.

This player creates a real dilemma. He such a good and honest guy and seems a important glue player off the ice. If you were just wanting to root for a bunch of good guys and not be too concerned about wins and losses, you keep a player like Boeser. Also showing some loyalty to a guy genuinely liked by his teammates might be important in keeping someone like Miller around. However, if you are more concerned about creating a winner then probably Boeser must be gone.

Others

Horvat - at best mediocre. Team needs more out of him if they are going to go anywhere.

OEL - was moving the puck ok in this game but another who needs be better than ok for the team to succeed.

Myers - had chances and some room to make plays from the offensive blue line but didn't. Game lacks much smoothness ATM

Rempel - looked too small and weak to compete at this level. Abby has little to offer in terms of help.

Podkolzin - got the hook after the turnover in the third. However, should have been on instead of Boeser who was never getting the puck out of his end and couldn't provide anything like pressure on the puck.

Hoglander - another who might have provided something if given more of chance.

With the loss team inches closer to the Seller category.

Outshot 15-3 by the 10 minute mark of the first period, and down 0-2. Some teams you might be able to come back on, but not a team like the Lightning who've played a hundred of these tight games over the years.

Boudreau in his post-game presser admitted maybe it's time to bring in the shrinks. How a team can consistently come out of the gate flatter than pancake is a huge red flag as far as the playoffs are concerned.

Of course without Petey, they're basically down to one scoring line. Supposedly he's 'day to day'. But last year, 'day to day' became 'week to week', 'month to month' and then finally the season. If he's gone for any length of time, you might as well kiss the playoffs goodbye.
The 2 goals against could be blamed on Hamonic.

I'm not sure why Bruce stayed loyal to Boeser guy was lumbering around injured or hung over from the outset could tell by his 3rd shift it was going to be a stinker. Should have buried Chiasson and Boeser and Rempal for most the game up front and i agree with Orcatown Hamonic who has had a nice uptick in his play lately was struggling immensely tonight with Hughes and in general. Didn't work out very well and probably should have aborted that sooner than later

Not sure why Pod and Hoglander got the rope so badly when we were trailing either.

I completely disagree with the negative sentiment for OEL. Guy was pushing the play forward nicely and moronic deflection by Chiasson stole a goal from him. He gets beat occasionally with speed.... so what, almost everyone does at times even Miller walked around Hedman. His calm smart passes are so underrated to the break out and getting on the attack and he's been a warrior in the trenches.

That card doesn't do a very accurate assessment. Lammikko was 17-10 CF at ES and Motte was 16-13. Even Hughes battled back to 24-23 by games end.

OEL was an impressive 23-14 just doesn't have as much finish on that shot as you would like but he's constantly sending in prime snap shots for deflections. Im pretty sure were the worst team in the NHL at re directing pucks. Throw in Chiasson deflecting his perfect snipe into the corner and he must have a few chuckles from time to time with how awful our forwards are around the net. Probably calls Shane Doan and asks him if he can come out of retirement. Would be better than Chiasson lol

Plenty to criticize tonight but the call on the Garland goal was utter dog water and that alone cost the team at least one point. We'd be singing a different tune if the game made it to OT/SO if not for something that should never happen.

Tampa had early pressure but just basic awareness by Boeser on the first goal and Hughes on the second would've prevented them. Nothing the slightest bit complicated, just pay attention to your guy/zone.

That follow through high stick penalty makes no sense to me but I guess its been around for a while. Couldn't defenseman just swing it up everytime and hope it lands. It's not like people are going to diving into sticks on slap shots. I dunno. That one bugged me. The garland chance was lame. But w/e. Is what it is.

As expected with a tired Tampa team they faded quite a bit in the second and third periods and made a lot of mistakes.

Pettersson got his noggin tapped again in the Washington game. It is concussions, the next one is always easier to get. I figure that is 3 or 4 now in the NHL

The picture tells the story, TB came out strong and the Canucks just couldn't handle it.

Everyone knew that TB was tired and that the Canucks should have set the pace but they didn't most likely because they just aren't capable of it.

Instead of talking about the playoffs, how about some moves to construct a team to compete for the SC one day?
