Tiebreakers - From NHL.com
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the shootout.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

Well we usually seem to play with a great effort against the Sharks, so hopefully they can get something out of this one. Not expecting anything though, San Jose is one of the top 3 teams in the league.

Pick up a point. Hopefully more.

Please rest Lehts. He has a great record coming off a rest game, and there's zero reason to keep leaning on him. Learn from the mistakes of Dallas coaches of the recent past.

There's no guarantee Kari is going to get a break during the Olympics. I expect Rask to be the lead dog, but you never know ...

Ellis please, give Kari a rest for the PHX redux.

KC better be in too for "fresh legs."

I know a lot of people never get to make games because they don't live in Dallas or just can't go due to timing..

I personally find the intro video for the games in the arenas that they started after the New Years to be one of the best. Probably one of my favorites. Haven't seen one this great since 07-08

Need something to pump you up before a game? Listen to this :)

Whatever this team does, it better be to the extreme (losing or winning). While we are 2 points out of a playoff spot, we are also only of few points away from the 6th overall pick. Either make the playoffs or get a great pick. No more of these early teen picks.

Optional practice, but Dan Ellis skated late, so the guess is Kari Lehtonen vs. Sharks. Alex Stalock for San Jose.

Sigh

This parity makes me feel like the league is rigged to maximize interest.

Well, duh.

The loser point created this false sense of security among the "weaker-thans" of the league. Suddenly, a team with a record of, oh, I don't know, let's say 26-21-9, would walk around with their chin up believing they were actually over .500. I'm sorry, but 26 wins in 56 games is not .500 hockey, no matter how many times Mr. Bettman insists it is. :help:

These phantom points also have the potential to take away a playoff spot from teams with a higher number of wins, which is totally unfair.

I really wish we could just go to something simplistic....2 points for a win, 0 for a loss. So easy, yet so unattainable. :(

I'm really partial to the 3/2/1 scheme... All games worth a total of 3 points.

I really want to be all "glass half full" ... he'll have 2 days off regardless between now and Saturday ... but we know the end game is he eventually gets hurt or just wears out.

I'm pretty nervous about how they keep using him.

At least there's this:

Aaron Rome skated late this morning, so it looks like Kevin Connauton tonight for Stars

I'm fine with Kari starting. I think the more detrimental thing is when they go long stretches, like weeks long, of only playing Kari. Back-to-backs are the logical place to get the backup starts, but since they just played Ellis in Anaheim that doesn't make as much sense here.

I'm not too bummed.

He has faced this numerous times this season and has two days off before PHX.

These are important games here and so there is some urgency to make sure he is available for each. Likewise, he won't play much during the Olympics. Rask has that on lock. He will play only a few games most likely.
