Habs are on their second 3-game winning streak this season, as they visit the Canes tonight.

They're also on a good run lately, with a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 games.

Whenever the Habs and Canes meet, one can't help but pit the two guys who indirectly got traded for one another, and that makes you wonder ... all of that, for what?

What was the point of all that hulla-balloo? Well, it did contribute to Bergevin getting canned, so there's that. But, what else really? Neither of these guys is killing it based on raw stats -- they look like the same player. Reminds me of that ancient assertion ...

Transformed into what, exactly? Dvorak is nothing more than a 3rd line center who ended up costing a 1st round pick in 2022 and a second rounder in the 2024 draft, just to prolong the agony a little longer. He's not exactly the happiest looking sort.

But, what about KK, you might ask (or not)?

A little piece of good news for this 4-game road trip beginning tonight, is that Moneyhands is accompanying the team. Doesn't mean he'll see any action, however, if he was only going to rehab, wouldn't it have been better to let him do it in Montreal?

Let's hope Moneyhands can finally see some action after his prolonged purgatory on the DL, as there are only 6 games until the trading deadline (not counting the March 3rd game which is taking place several hours after the deadline closing time elapses).

An interesting time for games like this one as rumors are swirling every which way, not knowing who or when a trade may materialize. Armia, Savard and Dvorak all scoring in the Hawks game (mind you, who doesn't score against them?). Drouin with 3 assists and Allen with a shutout. Any of these guys could be potential trade candidates for the deadline.

One other player shining at the right moment is Hoffman, with 9 points in his last 10 games. Maybe MSL had something to do with it. Or maybe, it was his Wolverine sideburns, who knows.

And of course, there is Josh Anderson. A ton of rumors about him, including Darren Dreger, the Master of Caveats, getting into the act.

In recent games, Anderson's play has been raised a notch. Hopefully, in trade talks, this is the guy a counterpart GM envisions:

Monahan practiced with the team today in a non-contact jersey. So a step in the right direction. I say he will play at some point during this road trip. The only reason they brought him along and no one else who is on IR and skating is because they feel he will get some practices in, first with a non-contact jersey, and then with regular jersey and then he'll be back in the line-up.

I much would've rather kept the first. Dvorak brings nothing that a free agent signing or minor trade couldn't have brought.

Want to make more people upset? That 1st round pick ended up being the 27th overall pick. And Kulich was still on the board.

So had Habs kept the pick, they would have Slaf at 1st, Mesar at 26th, and possibly Kulich at 27th.

And they'd still have 2 x 2nd round picks in 2024. Their own that they'd keep + the 2nd they got from the Avs in the Lehkonen trade.

Letting Danault walk and signing Hoffman and Armia caused this circumstance. We were forced into a situation to find a replacement at center (like it or not).

I'm over it. Dvorak at 3C is fine for me. He's the bridge to Beck and his term fits the development timeline. We can't just simply gut our centers in a tank narrative where we drown Suzuki with too much usage.

Suzuki is 5th in ice time for NHL forwards. That's too high

This has got to be the worst lose-lose offer-sheet fiasco in NHL history lol. Habs pick a shit player, Canes give an outrageous offersheet to this shit player to show that they won't get bullied, Habs make the right call accepting compensation but immediately give up the assets for another shit player, Canes double down and give an absurd extension for the shit player.
