Pasta had the 5 hole wide open on his 1st breakaway in tight. He was also gassed at the end of his shift on their game winner - had 1 opportunity for a change. Would rather see him make a borderline change than be a liability defensively there. Freddy had Jake breaking to the net with a full head of steam coming off a line change too. Looked like an easy back door pass if that’s made on time.

Monty just doesn't seem to notice when a player is "feeling it" or playing shitty. All he knows is that it's GOT TO BE A ROOKIE'S FAULT!"
Well technically Lohrei not feeding that puck right back down the wall cost them but 3 on 3 is made for him and he does not get a sniff either. Bruins are 2-7 in overtime I believe so he might want to change it a bit.

Monty tried 9 different line combos tonight. Only 1 got 5+ mins together. Losing Poitras probably contributed to that but it makes for some chaotic hockey. Coach was clearly trying to find something 5v5 and it never really happened, although the 3rd period was the Bruins' best despite the lack of finish.

Bottom 6 couldn't get much going at all, top 6 generated more looks but couldn't score at even strength, and Pasta and Marchand both finished -2. The defense battled away. Not horrible, but they let Arizona basically live in the crease/slot and gave up a crazy 21 high danger chances. The size and strength of Carlo and Forbort are much missed. Gryz is a shadow at this point.

Coyle was pretty good, DeBrusk was engaged, McAvoy and Shatty were decent. Pasta put himself in a position to get multiple opportunities, just didn't have the finish tonight apart from his early tally. Can't say too much for the rest. Boqvist at least scored a very nice goal.

Ullmark, ugh. That could be a big loss. At least Swayman can carry the team and I'd be curious to see how Bussi goes given the chance. But ideally Linus won't be out for too long. We will see what the outcome is.

This is not a very pleasant trip and it's not about to get any easier. At the same time, put the injuries to one side, and 2 points from 4 on the road is still not too bad. Team will just have to keep digging in and showing up for the next one.

@Fenway How is that venue in AZ? Wanted to make the road trip over. Been too busy at work. Just think it would be a unique place to watch an NHL game. Tough loss in many ways.
Unreal place to watch a game, as you’re right on top of them. Was at last years game with 2 non hockey buddies and they thought it was the best sporting event they watched live.

This current team will not win the SC. Accept that fact and just enjoy the regular season. This overachieving team does provide a lot of drama. Much more drama than the current crop of movies or TV shows.
Absolutely. As fans, we are playing with the House Money. At the start of the season, If you’d have told me we’d be leading the Div at the half way mark, I’d have told you you were on crack…

Depth is our Achilles heel and the next 2 months is gonna test us. Anybody bitching about the fact that “this isn’t a Cup Team” needs to have their head examined....It never was supposed to be.

We're just a bunch of medical speculators who may (or may not have) have stayed at a Holiday Inn recently
I will have you know I studied at the Derek Sanderson school of medicine, professor Sanderson was never wrong when calling a game about an injury after looking for 10 seconds from 2 floors away.

Ullmark has a popped knee or torn groin, Poitras has a dislocated shoulder and Grizlik has been diagnosed with bad hockey playeritis.

In years past most Bruin's team could play any type of game the opponent threw at them. This team is not capable of sustained physical play for more than one game in 4. It's all too easy to neutralize this team with aggressive forechecking etc.
That, and the defense is constantly backing in on their own goalies and not clearing the crease.
On the other end, there's only a couple players interested in posting up in front of opposing goalies.
Right now in the regular season they're going to back into the playoffs thanks to some spectacular goaltending but that's about it. We expected
a roller coaster season, and we're about to see the downhill side for a while now. Buckle up!

He must have watched a lot of Gretzky tapes.
Gretzky was the master at hitting blueline with speed and either slamming breaks on or curling but either way getting D men to stop or slow down and then he would hit the guy coming with speed and send him in alone. It was beautiful to watch but not sure how much it woukd work today they are way smarter as a group now.

I repeat, Coyle was okay in the first, then lousy. The center play was awful tonight and a major reason that even Pasta's line could not get going.
