Flames hung in and at times outplayed one of the better teams in the league in the playoffs. Some rookie mistakes cost us this game that could've been won, but they will learn. This team is going to be amazing in a few years.

Exactly. There's a learning curve here for a lot of guys who have never been here before.

Last I checked, we're still in a rebuild.

Good. He also shares the blame then.
that's all I have been trying to say. Multiple players are at fault as is the case in any loss.

Hooks and holds are never 4 minutes, though.
Because Colborne can control when Beauchemin bleeds? C'mon he was victimized by one of the stupidest rules in the league. We've all seen much worse high sticks not draw blood.

Yep, 2nd year of the rebuild and,
I believe we're the youngest team in the playoffs, we have our best player out of the line-up, we are struggling to get to the cap floor, and we have a lot of picks in the top end of this years draft. All that, and we're in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

What a year.

Look, 1TG - let’s agree to disagree, OK?

You can if you want, but I am not backing down. Blaming 1 player when there was a bunch of **** ups is completely unreasonable.

I don't think so. 1 second on the clock at the end of the 2nd period in the Ducks end he and he does that? Entirely his fault that he drew blood.

We need to package players off for a top 6 RWer
It would definitely be an improvement but I'm not sure we "need" to, if Hudler showed up (or was healthy) I think we would look pretty good as Jones and Colborne overall have been a quite formidable middle 6 RW pair.

Hudler is fine for the first line but we need more reliable depth scoring. Jones is good with Stajan on the third line and is a nice fit for the shut down line. Colborne can be that 2nd line RW if he can rebound from this sophomore year, but if we can package for an upgrade in a RWer that fits why not do it.

I never said not to do it. I just don't think it's as big of a need as you do. I'd be looking to improve our defense first.

Bouma-Stajan-Jones is a fantastic third line, but not convinced that Colborne is the guy for the 2nd line. Really hoping either Poirier or Klimchuk can make the jump next season.
I actually think Jones should be our #2 RW and Colborne the #3. Colborne would look very good with Boums and Stajan IMO.

Agreed. As much as I like him, any quality team would have Jones in a third line role. We have a surplus of bottom 6 players that we could use to leverage a good deal for a right winger and really something we should consider doing

we were tied at that point, 1 player doesn't lose a game. Colborne was one of our better players when he wasn't taking penalties

I think we could really use one. They've been an okay middle 6 but we could be a lot better with a player like Oshie. Imagine the Flames with more experience, our younger guys more developed, with Gio back and a player like Oshie against the Ducks. We'd do a lot better

I actually think defence is fine when it's healthy.
Giordano - Brodie
Russell - Wideman
And then Engelland with Wotherspoon maybe (starting next season). I know Hartley hasn't played him but I think that's because at this point Hartley would rather have guys like Schlemko and Diaz purely because of their experience. Diaz as a #7 if you need another PP specialist. A top 6 RWer would help the abysmal powerplay units the Flames are fielding.
