its not like its going to happen all the time. in this instance it really wasnt even close but close enough to say why not... but if it was a clear goal i doubt the coach would challenge just for the hell of it.

Maybe. The "repercussion" also is that he had to hang onto his timeout the entire game. Not sure why this is considered a loophole?
