They make more of a yelping noise that doesn't hold for a long time like a wolf howl. there's a bunch of coyotes that live in the wooded area behind me so I hear them quite a bit at night.

They still do the howling like a wolf also, its not ever time howl, but they are still known to use it like a wolf.

Why do the Yotes use a wolf howl sound effect? Coyotes don't howl like that. It'd be like the Sharks using dolphin noises.

In all my years living here I've never heard them howl like that. My dogs howled more like wolves than I've ever heard a coyote howl in that fashion.
