BOSTON vs PHILADELPHIA, LIFETIME SERIES-

The Bruins and Flyers are meeting for the 190th time in their histories with the Bruins having a 101-60-21-7 record and 623-554 scoring advantage in those games.

The Bruins are 46-36-10-2 in their 94 road games of this lifetime series with the Flyers holding a 293-290 scoring edge in those contests.

The Bruins are 7-1-1 in their last 9 games vs. the Flyers with their lone regulation loss in that span a 3-2 setback in Philadelphia on Jan. 13 of last season ... They are 16-4-2 in their last 22 vs. the Flyers overall and are 13-3-1 in the last 17 road games of this lifetime series.

Fun Fact: The Flyers are 1 of 3 teams (OTT, TB) who have never swept the Bruins in a season series.

MILESTONES APPROACHING-

Claude Julien is coaching his 727th game behind the Boston bench tonight … That moves him past Milt Schmidt into sole possession of 2nd place on the team’s all-time games coached list (Art Ross, 772 games).

Jimmy Hayes is 4 points short of his 100th NHL point.

INJURIES (63 total man-games lost)

John-Michael Liles – Upper body; Not on trip to Philadelphia
Zdeno Chara – Lower body; Has missed 3 games
Noel Acciari – Lower body; Has missed 10 games

"Jimmy Hayes is 4 points short of his 100th NHL point."

So he may actually reach this plateau before he retires??

Jack Edwards describes Bruins/Flyers as twin brothers with different mothers ;)

I'm old enough to remember the Flyers as an expansion team that could never win in Boston until this night in 1974 - and former Bruins announcer Don Earle who was fired by TV38 sounded giddy when it happened.

The Bruins were unable to win in Philadelphia and would lose the 1974 SCF 4-2.

The Flyers would bring in Kate Smith to sing at Game 6 and it should be noted that at the end of her performance only two players thanked her - and they were not Flyers.

I can't forget the support Flyers fans showed Boston in 2013 after the Marathon. They are loyal fans and probably should have won another Cup since 1975 but haven't.

Truth is Bruins and Flyers fans are very much alike as we are both tribal and provincial.

Remember the mid 70's series well. As a young teenager I was heart broken with how the powerful Bruins were being stymied by Bernie Parent. Bobby Clarke really had has his coming out party and that toothless grin holding the cup photo still gets air time to this day. Rick McLeash was like the second coming of Mike Bossy. Kate Smith took on cult like following status and became the ultimate bad omen to open those games in Philly. Was the first time I can recall watching an entire final series in Canada on TV featuring two US based teams. I was so shocked the Bruins came up short. Although the Bruins had prevailed twice to start the decade I cannot recall seeing any of their games in 1970 on TV in Canada and a strike in 1972 meant the games were not broadcast on TV so I resorted to listening via radio as they beat the Rangers. It was the start of a life time of being a Bruins fan. Still feel great satisfaction today in beating the Flyers especially in Philly. Would sure like to feel that way again tonight.

Let's Go Bruins!

I got a bad feeling about this one.
I have a good feeling, provided Rask is in net.

I'm hoping several players (Krecji, Krug, Bergeron, Backes) are having incremental
improvements in health, and it starts to show in their play, score sheet, and win/lose
columns.

The top image is of the team select screen for NHL 96 on Sega Genesis.

It always bothered me that every team had the city name listed, but Boston instead had "Bruins".

Flyers have always been my second favorite team, even when they were having gang warfare on ice with the Bruins. They should have/could have won in 76 if Parent and MacLeish hadn't been injured, also thought they had the Islanders in the 1980 final (video replay for offsides would have made a big difference back n the day in game 6).

So much like the Bruins in team building and attitude (much better owner in my opinion in Snider) and running into dynasties Montreal, Islanders and Edmonton in their trips to the finals in the 70's and 80's.

no clue what to expect from our boys tonight

Finally just finished watching the game vs the Bolts, if our boys play like that, this one will be over half way through, if they play like they did vs the Flames/Sens, again, it`ll be over before half way through but not in a good way

Seems like the past few years at least the Bruins seem to bring solid performances vs. the Flyers most of the time.

I loved those Bruins Bear commercials that year, making fun of the opposing team in a light hearted way (i.e. even if she shaves her mustache).

But of course some people were offended

Bunch of cry babies.

I like Philly as well and would have loved to see Simmonds in a Bruins jersey...

Hoping for a 4-2 Bruins win & someone punching Weise in the head.

next to the bench
I hate the Flyers. One of our guys always gets injured and they hack at Bergy all game

Last year Giroux hacked at Bergy as usual and Brad (on the way back to the bench after a shift) ran his stick along Giroux just to let him know he saw what CG was doing.

One of the refs called Brad over (right in front of us) and gave him a talking to...Marchy looked right at the guy in stripes and said "BITE ME" . I thought it was funny...even the ref laughed.

Please beat these stinkers.

HERE WE GO BRUINS...HERE WE GO :handclap::handclap:
