Offense needs to improve dramatically for us to start capturing these wins. 5-on-5 especially.

Let's try not to make this road trip a total disaster after tonight. Cuz if we don't win that's what it'll be.

I still can't believe we tried to sit on a 1 goal lead and played boring passive hockey for an entire period against the Ducks.

Maybe tonight if we get a lead, I dunno, we should keep pressing and try to go up by 2 rather than dump the puck in every time we cross center ice. Maybe we should send more than 1 forechecker in deep, rather than have everyone else collapsing the neutral zone in hopes of winning 2-1. You know what's better than a 2-1 lead? A 4-1 lead!!

Goals for/against look ALOT like the Sharks while the Wings have a better record. And minutes playing with the lead vs. behind are similar with Wings holding a slight edge. But the Sharks have had a more difficult schedule....this should be an even game all things considered.

Okay but "at this juncture" is a weird thing to care about. Our point % is 0.563, up from 0.451. We just had a hot streak to start out last season, but that says nothing about how the rest of this season will play out.
Last year Detroit was 8-8-2. Goal differential was -9 instead of -7.
The big question is whether or not Detroit goes into a 3-month tailspin.

Win , Bertuzzi redemption 2 point game.
That second line is not working, just put Bergreen, Veleno and Perron on the same line please.

I want to see an aggressive game today. A statement game. No "the process was good we just didn't come out on top" shit. You have to battle for your wins. No sitting back. Bury them.

Yeap, they've been much better lately winning the last 3 against Dallas, Minny and West leading Vegas

They should start having better games in puck control.

When BErtuzzi returned, he was instantly one of our best possesstion players. Same as Berggren, he has added that, much more as we had in Söderblom. Elmer had different strengths. Also Walman had nice puck possession stats at Blues. All these are great adds.

Also, we have those struggling players like Seider who should start playing better. There's some potential we are wasting now. After few games, this will turn around.

We have all the tools to play a solid possession game. Just need to see it executed.
I find the tendency to dump and chase strange as we don't really have great dump and chase players. Ras can be good at it but is inconsistent. Sunny and Erne are our only really good forecheckers. Pretty much everyone in the top 6 fits a possession game better.

That's the thing. This team is way more talented than last season. There have been some pleasant surprises this season like Kubalik, but goaltending from Ned has been very bad. In addition to this the 3rd pair of Hagg and Lindstrom may rival Madison Bowey and Trevor Daley in effectiveness. And while Hronek has been better this year, Seider has just not been good most nights. This team has been operating with only 1 pair of defensemen that are effective. That's going to impact the team's 5v5 play quite a bit.

Lack of chemistry is a big part of the issue. And the health of some forwards another issue. Losing Vrana AND Bert was going to have a negative impact long term. It also didn't help that Detroit kept Zadina in the lineup over Berggren who has immediately made the 4th line of him, Veleno and whoever else is on wing look viable.

We got Copp making Larkin money and putting up Adam Erne points. This guy needs a massive turn around or this contract is gonna bite us hard.

My favourite moment against the Sharks by far has to be that Pavel Datsyuk backhand in the playoffs… he was a machine that series… too bad they couldn’t come back from being down 0-3.

Wings 4 Sharks 2

Joey V with a big goal tonight.

Luckily we have a lot of flexibility, and the cap will be going up. So he may never live up to the contract, but he won't hinder our team from the looks of it.
