John or Troy mentioned a while ago that the Stars Gemel Smith credits Andrew Shaw for some of his success, both played together while growing up in Ontario.

A wins a win. And relative to last year against the Stars, I'll take it without looking back.

Minus the first 30 seconds, can we stop sleep walking through the 1st period? We almost lost because Crow wasn't able to bail us out early like he usually does.

2nd and the early part the of 3rd period was good enough ... but the last 10 minutes stunk.

Again a win on the road against a tough to opponent is good enough. I'll take it.

Hartman and Motte are keepers. I love Panarin's aggression. I don't understand the Toews hate by some. He was good enough. Crow was awesome. Our PK is improving. Hossa can still play.

Just on Hartman ... he has a little Shaw in him minus the mental lapses. I like him.

Why he gets hate. When someone pulls that kind of salary, rightly or wrong he's going to get hate constantly because "players should just take less". You don't want him to be "good enough" you need good all the time and great some of the time. I certainly think he deserves plenty of scrutiny, though. He's an integral part of this team taking up a large portion of the salary cap, always will have a microscope on him.

I agree. Toews deserves the scrutiny. I just don't like when they make things up about his play. Could he play better? Absolutely. Our entire team could have played better. But Toews wasn't junk tonight. He was good enough tonight ... who some can fairly argue is not 'good enough' for the highest paid player in the league. But that's a different argument.

Panarin slacking with only 13 points in 12 games

(which is tied for 6th in the NHL.... it's early of course but if he keeps things up Hawks are looking at another 2.5 million bonus overage)

Can't you push that bonus into his new extension? There must be loopholes around it.

Isn't McNeill a center? I still don't understand why he hasn't been given a chance.

he played C in Prince Albert when a JR. played a bit of C in the Rock but he has been LW for the past two seasons down there. He should e called up IMO

desi has played C in his career but he will likely be used as a LW, Q has to my knowledge not played him at C.

I sure hope Q does not sit schmaltz, the guy to sit is jordan tootoo

So Toews was "good enough"? 1a ...Zero goals...3 shots (ok) ..but 2 gove-aways ...Zero take-aways...looked dangerous only on 1 shift for a few seconds...horrid in own en ..never touched the puck as his line gets hemmed in
.missed open net at the end..coasting most of the night..not racing at full speed for loose pucks. .not winning puck batyles. .handled by their d-men..good enough for any 1C? Let alone good enough for $10.5 million. .I guess we gave tge highest paid faceoff specialist in the game ..but really if that is all he does....."good enough"?Maybe if he had 5-6;goals already I could pass on a night of just 1 assist after a few seconds I to the game and Nada after that and not looking dangerous and letting tge Seguin and Ben combo dominate his line in dangerous attacking ..but since he only has 2 goals and sone hardly highlight reel assists for a meh points total at this point..I refuse to pass him as "good enough" this night. WE are not getting the production nor the inspiration north leadership or even the puck pursuit and compete level from him.We are getting garbage..Definitely not good enough for a $10.5 m cap guy..or even half of that if that is what we would pay a 1C ...we are getting about a $2million meh average grunt return on investment ..where is the missing $8.6i million of Talent and Hustle PA Jagr we thought the extra pay would get us? HE IS CHEATING US...badly. with over the cliff type play..NOT "Good Enough"!

We should probably build a wall to keep Canadians like him out.

Schmaltz hasn't put it all together ... but you see glimpses of his big time talent. That kid can hold the puck.
Schmaltzs history shows hes a slow starter each time he moves up in class. Needs a second or third year to show something.
