8-0 Bruins

Stars stand around watching all game, heavily outplayed, no effort. Barely beat bad teams now we have faced good teams so the warts are showing more.

Boston is missing McAvoy, Gryz and Forbort. This should be not an automatic W but
not far off. 4-1 Stars.

This might be the worst Boston lineup we've faced in a long time. They were depleted already and now are dealing with a number of injuries. Just look at the roster Johno put up:

Van Riemsdyk - Zacha - Pastrnak
Marchand - Coyle - DeBrusk
Frederic - Poitras - Geekie
Beecher - Brown - Steen

Lindholm - Shattenkirk
Lohrei - Carlo
Wotherspoon - Mitchell

Ullmark

There's nowhere on this that they look better than Dallas. We should be at minimum competitive tonight.

Duchene being expected to return was such a weird thing to say.

The Vancouver crew sounded confused as well. First they said that they were told he would NOT be back. Then later they said that he would be back, and they sounded very skeptical.

Damn without Duchene this game might be boring as hell. He's been the only consistent bright spot on this team outside the occasional Hintz rush
w0rd

Even Miro outside of a few plays hasn't been overly fun to watch as usual.

On the D side, he has gotten beaten to the outside way more times than I expected this season. A combo of bad gap control and his foot speed looking worse. Not sure what is up there. Dare I say Suter has not been the problem on that pairing?

You're looking at it the wrong way when it comes to Boston. The players don't matter. The system has been set in motion and inertia will carry them forward.

Also not wanting to litigate he Cole hit, but Duchene pretty clearly took a blow to the head as the end result.

In other good news, half of tonight's officiating crew won't be from Massachusetts

Welcome back to "Who Is That Player?" Today thanks to an injury to Grzyxyxjsx and McAvoy's imprudent headhunting we have the pleasure of examining Mason Lohrei.

The answer to countless future trivia rounds, Mason is the first NHL player to hail from Louisiana, specifically the capital, Baton Rouge.

"Red Stick" Lohrei, as I call him, attended THE Ohio State University for 2 years and was selected 58th overall in the 2020 draft.

Spending only 12 games in the AHL Mason now finds himself on Boston's second pairing next to Kevin Shattenkirk. He's already recorded his first NHL point and will surely record his first NHL goal tonight against the Stars, preferably in the first 5 minutes.

Lohrei was ranked as Boston's #1 prospect by The Hockey News this fall.

This concludes "Who Is That Player?"

Swayman getting some easy warmup shots from Miro

Not much pace to this game. Neither team skating much
