Disappointing, up by 2 we should have been able to close it out. Allen made a few game saving save. Almost everyone look good but there was way to much nerve… Ref definitely miss a few easy calls against the leafs. But ultimately our PP in OT look bad and static, they aren’t give up that cross ice pass take what they give you can’t just keep trying to get it to CC.
Suzuki and Dach those were 2 pretty bad attempts, CC hits the post it hard…

How many games last year did Allen give up a goal in the first minute or first shot? I don't have the stats but it's probably a league record. Allen is AHL caliber.
Allen is a capable second stringer.

People seem to forget that your defense isn’t support consistently give up breakaways and they’re supposed to stop cross ice passes sometimes.

Our D is very green. We’re not going to the playoffs this year and our D is the number one reason why.

Allen isn’t a great goalie but it’s a really tough assignment.

Pearson,Gally and Savard have no business on this team .They have better sitting in the press box and in Laval . Play the kids and send these 3 packing
They could dress 7d and use Savard sparingly and leave Gallagher in Toronto.

I don't remember any breakaways but they did leave guys open in front of the net.

Those 2 goals from the side of the net from impossible angle should have been stopped

Fair enough but he is also to blame tonight. Can't defend that 4th goal... it wasn't even a shot. 1st goal too was pretty bad.

Okay that’s fair enough. But we get out shot 2x1, Allen makes several huge stops and HE’s the reason we lost?

I don’t think people understand how hockey works sometimes. Not everything is the goalies fault. When you’re outshot two to one you’re probably going to lose. Matthews had countless point blank chances… it’s not all in the goalie.

When you let 2 easy goals in after the team was playing so well it takes all your momentum away.

Icetime comments :

17 minutes is too much for Anderson. He really looked clueless in the D-Zone at times and botched quite a few zone exits
Suzuki and Dach both played nearly 22 minutes. That OT PP may explain this.
3rd and 4th line had similar icetime (notwithstanding Monahan, who played WAY, WAY too much -- 19 minutes)
Matheson and Savard were overplayed. I suspect it's gonna happen quite a bit this season. Ideally, Matheson plays, like, 20-21 minutes. Savard, around 17. They were at 26.5 and nearly 25 tonight.
AX was actually very good during the 10 minutes he played and should've gotten a bit more IT.
I barely saw Kovacevic, who played 20 miunutes.

It's not only about making great saves -- it's also about not allowing goals that shouldn't be allowed.

The first goal is bad. His worst of the night I agree. The second is a rocket in the slot from Matthews. There’s another one that Matthews scores in the short side but there are players buzzing all over his net… and it was like that for most of the night. There was constant pressure on him.

You can blame him for a soft goal but he made so many crazy stops tonight too. He’s not the reason we lost. We lost because we were badly outplayed for much of the night.

Nope, not "most goalies". Welcome to the NHL.
Did you watch Toronto’s goalie tonight?

Not every team has great goaltending. Average goalies let in bad goals with regularity.

And most teams have a much better D than the Habs do.

only in montreal matheson/savard is a first pairing defense. that is just bad.

i really can't wait for either mailloux or reinbacher to pair with guhle.
Probably mailloux. They need Guhle and Reinbacher to cover for mailloux and hutsons risk taking/defensive deficiencies

agree with all except Matheson... he was good tonight, not great, but good, maybe even very good.

I've got no issue with him playing 23-25min/night, he's a net positive and easily on par with Reilly tonight...

Who knows how Hutson pans out. Maybe he becomes a 3rd pairing D and PP specialist?

If that's the case, I could see an eventual D-Corps of:

Guhle - Reinbacher
Engstrom- Mailloux
Konyushkov - Hutson
