It's safe to say that our defense is **** again this year. We will likely be able to score some goals, hopefully Talbot can stop more pucks than Scrivens did but, our defense is terrible. We don't have anyone that belongs on a top pair - we have two second-pair guys and four bottom-pair guys. We will give up a lot of goals because of our garbage D - again.

Nice to have hockey back but, we are not a playoff team unless the blueline gets some real upgrades.

Schultz is a second pairing guy but often was over his head being pushed into top pairing minutes and Fayne isn't flashy but he is for sure a second pairing guy

I agree but it's tough to evaluate our players without true coaching. I think this season will provide us with more accurate expectations for various players going forward.

Schultz is the key primarily because of his skating and potential offense in his game.
If McLellan can coach him into a dman that can play a quiet defensive game...he becomes a top 4 dman and this defense becomes significantly better than last season.
