Good pickup for an NHL team!
Impressive numbers in the Liiga this year.

With the numbers he's put up as a teenager - both in Liiga and Mestis - has Lehtinen ever received an NHL Development Camp invitation?

Well, even if hes playing in a strong team this year his numbers are quite impressive. If he keeps this up perhaps KHL or AHL-NHL will be next?

Why hasnt this guy gotten a look by NHL teams? He's put up similar numbers to Dostal whom Ducks fans are extremely high on

Dostal is a year younger and played behind way worse defense and as a #1 goalie, not to mention Ilves folded rightaway after Dostal left for AHL, Lehtinen is sharing the net with Setänen and playing behind one of the best if not the best defense in league, so there is kinda big difference there.

I wouldn't say Ilves defence was that bad and there were more players than just Dostal who left. Ruotsalainen led the whole league in points and Välimäki was also a major reason why the team was doing so well. At the moment Lehtinen is playing behind the best defence in the league for sure but let's not say that Dostal was the sole reason why Ilves was doing so well.

I think Lehtinen needs to play in the KHL and play well there to have a shot at being signed by an NHL team.

Haven't followed Liiga as closely this year but Lukko and Pelicans in top two spots seems surprising.

I know that Ilves had a lot of North Americans before the shutdown ended but why the shift of balance among the rest of the league? Has Covid had the same effect on players being available as it has in the US and Canada?

He may be playing behind a good defense, but sharing the net only seems to show how much better lehtinen is than setanen?

Lehtinen: 949 sv % 1.08gaa in 18 games

Setanen: 904 sv % 2.23gaa in 16 games

Lehtinen is leading the league at 21 years old.

I'm sure he will get some attention from the NHL after the season is over.

Lassi Lehtinen (22) - 23 gp .945%
Lukas Dostal (20)- 11 gp .941%
Eetu Laurikainen (28) - 19 gp .931%
Niko Hovinen (32) - 26 gp .919%
Christian Heljanko (23) - 25 gp .916%

Lehtinen just turned 22 years old a couple days ago. The other goalie on his team has just a .908%. You gotta think he gets attention once liiga finishes (finnishes) this season, as dostal has. His numbers are super impressi e for a young guy.

Dostal was drafted before he went to Liiga though. I think Lehtinen will go to KHL next season.

Interesting goaltending matchup in Kanada Cup final. Twenty-two-year-old Lehtinen vs former NHL goalie Karri Ramo.

I would be surprised if he got an NHL contract.
few years in the KHL (possibly) then maybe in the SHL
then back to Finland.

Seems like you are underestimating him very much if his future career is maybe just a few years in the KHL and then maybe some seasons in the SHL before returning to Finland. A 22-year-old goalie who just recorded 1.38 GAA 94 S% season with 7 shutouts in the regular season and 1.63 GAA 90,5 S% and 2 shutouts in the playoffs in one of the better leagues in the World. You don't think that is a good player to a gamble on for an NHL team?

Numbers this past season dipped - and it looks like Zagidulin saw the bulk of the action in the playoffs.

Was there an injury involved or was that more a reflection of his play?

No, he was pretty bad for the whole season. He doesn't have a team for next season and might have some trouble finding one at Liiga

The annual "When does someone sign Lassi?" post.

Once again outstanding numbers - both in 52 regular season games and the three-game playoffs (when TPS was held to three goals in the series).

Still no interest from NHL clubs?

Too small to be NHL goaltender.

The Oilers need to try anything and everything next season to cut Campbell’s starts down to the bare minimum, but can’t spend a lot of money to do it. Lehtinen seems like the perfect lottery ticket to be a 2A to Skinner.
