Was just checking out the AHL stats and was surprised to find Cal Heeter with the best GAA (2.08), SAV% (.930), SO (4). Not only that, but it has been done over 24 starts.

Anyone know much about this guy? Any future in the NHL for him?

Really came into his own his last two seasons at (the) Ohio State University:

He was replacement level his first two years (despite excelling in his last season in the NAHL). The CCHA frequently has higher save percentages, so his 91.8% in his senior year was just a tick above average.

Good numbers for a 24-year-old in the AHL.

The Flyers will sign Mason to an extension and if Heeter can maintain his solid play, he could earn the back up role next year.

I'd like to see him get a shot to compete for the backup job for the Flyers because Ray Emery flat out stinks. Maybe next year. I say let him finish this season in the AHL and then let him try and win the backup job in training camp and preseason next year

Saw a lot of him at tOSU as a Miami U. season ticket holder.

When he was good, he was very good, but when he had an off night he was awful. Overall he was a solid college goalie but I'm surprised he's having that much success in the AHL.

He's from St. Louis and is from the hockey factory at CBC high school(joe vitale, Phil McRae) to name a few. My cousin played with him, heard he was an arrogant SOB, but has always had talent. Was one of the best goalies in the area and I'm not surprised he's doing well. Just another player from the STL region to accel.

I.e.-Paul Stastny, Ben Bishop, Joe Vitale, Bradon Bollig, Phil McRae, Cam Jansen, prospect Ryan MacInnis off the top of my head.
