Watching the game tonight, I have to look forward to stay positive...

So, here it is. Ready for 2017-2018.

Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-McCarron (Can't have Gallagher be the puck retriever on a line)
Scherbak-Eller-Gallagher (Very balanced line. Eller takes care of defence and the work in the corner)
Sekac-Andrighetto-De la Rose (Skill plus defence)
Crisp-Bournival-Weise

Emelin-Subban
Tinordi-Dietz
Beaulieu-Pateryn

There will be UFA signings, trades, etc. I doubt Eller will ever move up the lineup as long as Therrien is coach.

Meh, I still prefer our current line-up who won the Stanley Cup last year:

Higgins - Plekanec - Ryder
Kostitsyn - Grabovski - Kostitsyn
D'Agostini - Lapierre - Perezhogin
White - Chipchura - Garth Freakin' Murray

McDonagh - Subban
Streit - Emelin
Valentenko - Fisher

Paccioretty DD Weiss
Eller Plekanec PAP

So you blame Therrien for giving 14 minutes of TOI per game despite his 1G-1A?
At this pace, he would get 8G-8A after 82 games despite having 14 minutes TOI per game.
Please give us your perspective...

Feel free to factor in TOI.

With 15:52, Parenteau and Gallagher did much better.
At this point, even Weise is higher than Eller.

Feel free to rant on Therrien:shakehead.
I mean do you have any argument besides your biased impression.

Do not get me wrong here but Therrien is like me:
He loves him to the extent of playing him even if he does not produce...

When we are behind at the end of second period/beginning of third period Therrien will start to play with his lineup.
Eventually, if he line clicks for a few times, he will bring them together.

I'm starting to think Eller would make a better winger than a centreman. Given that and our depth at centre I'd like to see this in the not too distant future. Here's a nice balanced lineup with 3 offensive threat lines that can still play some D and a 4th who can pinch in as well.

Patches DD Gally - Shown what they can do
Bork Plex Sekac - plex will have more size and speed to create space
Eller Chucky PAP - PAP can help set up Bork and Gally and Gally can do the same for both
Prust Manny Weise - Perfect 4th IMO

Markov PK - play them for half the game. 30 min
Emelin Gilbert - Solid 2nd pairing and mix of toughness and offense. 18 min
Beau Weaver - 12 of the easiest minutes.
Tinner Pateryn - alternate them in with the 3rd pairing

Eller is not a 2nd line player. He just doesn't have the offensive instincts for it.

Dunno about 2017 lines lol, dunno about next week -- looking for scoring MT broke up Plex-Galch which was our highest-scoring duo, yet kept underperforming top line duo Max-DD intact -- hard to understand the reasoning.

But Weise with Max&Des is worth a shot, #22 is big fast and has hands.

Coming up with lines is futile lol but I will say this...

I'm really excited for Big Mike McCarron and Nikita Scherbak. Both guys have top 6 potential.

De la Rose has NHL written all over him, I'm just not sure where he'll eventually slot in. Seems to be similar to Eller in that he has ALL the physical attributes a hockey player can wish for, but may not have that offensive instinct to move up to the top 6. Still going to be a very useful player that we'll be greatful to have come playoffs.

I've been high on Hudon and with his skillset I have a hunch that he'll be Plekanec's eventual replacement as our 2nd center, behind Galchenyuk. He just has that top end hockey sense and consistency, similar to a Plek. I'd say he's not as good a skater as Plek but may be more skilled. Injuries may be an issue for him though.

8-2-1, how on earth could I be positive!!

I don't see how we're any better with Eller as 2nd C.

I also love these posts because they look nothing like the actual team will, lol.

.. and then you have Desharnais with 17min+ on a pace for 45pts playing with our best winger. Honestly, I also feel like Eller won't ever be a Top-6 on this team unless half the team is injured. Therrien would still play Desharnais over Eller even if DD doesn't produce that much. But then, I also wonder if Galchenyuk will ever play at centre or if they're going to keep him forever as a winger. I mean, Plekanec is having a great year so far and he still has another year on his contract. Then you have DD that I doubt will be ever traded away 'cause he doesn't cost so much for his production.

2-3 years from now, I would still see something like that :

Pacioretty - DD - UFA (or young kid à la Scherbak)
Galchenyuk - Plekanec - Gallagher
Hudon/Lekhonen - DLR - Andrighetto
UFA - UFA that is great on faceoffs - McCarron (with maybe a guy like Crisp)

Tinordi - Subban
Beaulieu - UFA (maybe Dietz or Thrower might make the jump)
Markov - UFA à la Weaver
(forgot about Emelin)

I'm mostly expecting a new top-6 on offense and that's about it.

There are alot of questions about this team, and I'll try to answer them.

1) Who takes the spot of Plekanec if/when he leaves?
McCarron would be my candidate.

2) Markov replacement
I expect Beaulieu to fill that role

3) Can Tinordi be a top 4 defensemen?
Certainly. I see him as Braydon Coburn type.

4) What will our future roster look like?

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Scherbak
Hudon - McCarron - Gallagher
Reway - Eller - Smith Pelly
Crisp - De La Rose - Wiese
MacMillan - Grégoire

Beaulieu - Subban
Tinordi - Carlo(2015 1st)
Lernout - Nygren

I like that, but maybe go:

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - McCarron
Scherbak - De la Rose - Gallagher
Andrighetto- Hudon - DSP
Bournival - Eller -Weise

I'm hoping DSP can top out better than Gallagher, but that's probably wishful thinking.

In two years I can see this happening:

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Scherbak - Hudon - UFA
DLR - Eller - Smith-Pelly
Gregoire or Crisp - McCarron - Weise

Beaulieu - Subban
Markov - UFA/Trade
Tinordi - 1st round pick this year or Dietz

1- Not sure we can expect that much from him yet. Plekanec is still relatively young, I think we could resign him next year for no more than his current contract.

2- Most likely, though he'll have to start putting up points. Still has two years to get there, what we've seen recently is encouraging.

3- He could be, but I think it's safer to assume he can be a good bottom pairing D.

4- I'd be totally OK with that 1st line. Lernout is RHD though, but I doubt he can be a top 4 so we'd likely have to draft/sign one. Could be with our 1st or 2nd a la Subban.

Hey look, it's this thread.

Everybody over 30 just vanishes and all the prospects exceed expectations.

And Eller on the second line.
