My biggest concern with Quebec against the Rangers is that their defence has both Housley and Duchesne, best suited to sheltered minutes which they will be unable to receive against the Rangers' bottom six which boast significant offensive threats (and one of them will have to face the Sedins, which could be a problem). New Yorks's defense has no one requiring significant sheltered minutes and I'm comfortable with them out against anyone on Quebec if needed (although preferably Park-Langway take on the Richard line). I think the biggest edge New York has is their defense, with their second pairing very comparable to the Clapper-Boivin pairing.

New York's bottom six boasts far better offensive potential than Quebec's, with Bridgman and Pavelich in particular bringing very little offensively while every player on Quebec can chip in plus Reggie Leach's scoring ability is unparalleled by any of his opposition. This offensive edge will be used to make up any difference in potency from the top six.

It may seem that the Sedins against Julien is a poor matchup for them, but this time they bring with them sufficient back up. Additionally, they will probably play most of time on New York ice against the Ovechkin-Savard-Lemieux line, a line that hardly offers any intimidation Tocchet can't handle and this is storyline I think can safely be written off as a non-factor.

Overall, I think the overall defensive and scoring depth of New York will be sufficient to move them past a top-heavy Quebec squad.
