This is a sad reminder that drugs can get to anyone. It is a mental health crisis, and will not be fixed until it is treated as one. We need to see more harm reduction measures put in place to help people stay alive.

Also, this is a good chance to share people-first language with everyone here.

Using the term "addict" isn't the most sympathetic way to talk about someone who is/was battling addiction. People-first language will help break certain stigmas around things like addictions.

I'm sure there's some people, fans or players, giving a good hard look in the mirror after hearing about this story. I mean the guy OD'd the day of his kids 2nd birthday!

I really hope that by sharing this story, it will help to clean up someone's life.

My sister passed away in August under the same circumstances, only 42 years old, mother of 3, married for years. Sometimes you never know who is struggling.

Ask for help if you need it guys. That is the first step. Accepting that every walk of life is susceptible.

Stay safe.

Damn dude, sorry to hear that and my condolences.
