Former Golden Bear Kris Knoblauch Named Oilers' Head Coach

Kris Knoblauch was hired as the Edmonton Oilers Head Coach. Knoblauch spent 5 seasons as a Golden Bear, winning one University Cup.

I was gonna post this last night but forgot. You did a better job than me.

Surprised that he only won 1 title until I looked at the stats and it all came back to me.

2 years in Kitchener and 2 in UNB.

The 2004 games were classic with the almost line brawl with UNB-ALB, DAL winning Bronze over a non-caring ALB team and SFX over UNB in 2OT.

I recall chirpping Bob every year at the Nationals about how ALB hadn't won in X years.

Until they won at home in 2004-05

On Knoblauch:
Been on the rise for a while.
Won WHL Title with Kootenay in 2011 and OHL Title with Erie in 2017.
Only Major Junior HC in history with 4 straight 50+ win seasons.
14 Playoff Series in those 4 seasons. Only 2 of those years with McDavid.
5th season as AHL HC in Hartford (NYR).

As a player Knoblauch won the National Title in the only year the Golden Bears didn't go to the Tournament as #1 seed (99-00)

Lost in 03 Nationals in OT to X and 04 Nationals in OT to UNB- was last meaningful game he played as a Golden Bear.
I do remember him being in the building in '05 when Bears won at Rexall Place in NHL lock-out year.
Alberta of course won both years the Tournament was EDM...'05 and '06
