The Philadelphia Flyers have promoted Chris Pryor to the position of assistant general manager and director of player personnel, the team announced Wednesday.

Like many with the Flyers, he’s been inside the organization for a long while. The 2016-17 season will be his 17th in Philadelphia, having served the last three seasons as the director of scouting.

Pryor joined the club in 1999 as a U.S. amateur scout and worked in that position until he was named the director of hockey operations in 2006.

His NHL experience extends beyond the Flyers, having worked with the New York Islanders from 1992-99 as the director of player development, among other positions. He also spent time playing in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars and Islanders. Through 82 career NHL games, he scored a goal and five points.

Congratulations, Chris. :handclap:

I have always been impressed with Pryor's work and each year I look forward to his portion of the Town Hall Meeting... That is the part of the Meeting where we learn the most about the status of what is in the Pipeline, as well as what may be available.., and the direction the Flyers are headed down the road... It ma not be the sexy portion where we get all the dicey poop and get a lot of inside stuff... but it is where we get bot a great formatted presentation and honest responses about the future of the players in the Farm System... He never ducks any questions, other than the ones he is not allowed to comment on... He has been a loyal soldier for may Seasons, through multiple regimes... It is great to see him rewarded and get the title that shows what he actually does.
