It was a great game, maybe the best the Flyers have played for a while.
Lyon was awful, I think that's the last we see of him as a Flyer.

MacDonald/Laughton screwed up on two goals, fortunately one was called back, but that may be one reason Laughton was buried on the bench - and the bottom four defensemen are all getting 3rd pair minutes while Provorov and Ghost played 24 minutes. Gudas is the best of the four, but only if you pair him with a puck mover, because that certainly ain't his forte. Manning played his best game in a month. MacDonald has no excuses, he's cooked, Hagg actually showed some flashes, end to end skating, a nice pass to set up a breakaway, on the 2 on 1 (Giroux's fault), he tried to take away the pass, just didn't succeed.

The revelation was Patrick, HE'S ARRIVED. This was his breakout game, the one where he showed why he was the #2 pick. He'll be much better next year with a summer to add strength, become a more explosive skater and absorb his rookie season, but you can see already that he's becoming a legitimate #2 center. I'd like to see Lindblom on his left, Voracek on his right and Simmonds demoted. But he just looks so different than a month ago, skating faster, smoother, handling the puck with confidence, shooting aggressively - the kid has the entire packag.

Filppula plays because Laughton shouldn't be a center, his future is on LW, just doesn't have the awareness defensively to be a good defensive center, and lacks play making skills, his best role will be a skate and shoot forechecking LW with limited responsibilities.

Konecny has so much promise, but he's still makes the occasional head scratcher, like the pass on the power play with 4 seconds left toward the guy coming out of the box, that's the game sense that he has to develop - fortunately Provorov played it perfectly.

The rest, meh. Weal, Leier, Lehtera, Filppula, bye bye.
And move Simmonds while he has value, love his heart, but he's just not a very skillful forward.

What we're seeing is a solid core, around which a Cup contender can be built the next two years.
Put Frost at #C, Vorobyev at 4C, Lindblom, NAK, Rubtsov, Allison, Myers, Sanheim, etc.

I did watch the game and agree with most all of deadheads assessment. This has not always been the case but today I do. We lost on some weak goals, lack of performance from highly paid non performers. Patrick was awesome. Anderson goal tending was superb.
I can deal with lack of performance and mistakes but not lack of effort and inability to exhibit skill from paid players like Flip and Simmonds.

They missed on at least a dozen great scoring chances in the 2nd and 3rd periods, especially the 3rd period. It was a combination of Anderson, missed opportunities and bad luck.

And Lyon was basically responsible for the first two goals, just shoddy goaltending.

Deady, Konecny lead the Forwards in 5v5 TOI. Hakstol likes him now. You’re good to gush, bud.

Go back and check, I've predicted he's going to be a 30-30 forward for a year now, he's improving by leaps and bounds, still needs to add some more strength, learn to gear down and not try to force everything, but he's getting better. As he matures as a player, he'll have a better feel when to turn on the jets and when to patiently let things develop. And he needs to keep working on his wrist shot.

This defense is really bad, Lyon is donezo with this team, with Hart arriving next year and possibly Sandstrom, he's out.

I'm glad the forward lines are still going and the top 3 look good as most people expected.
