For those who keep hanging around even though the Flyers are hitting the links, here's an idea for a playoff pool.
Assign a point value from 1-16 for each of the 16 teams in the playoffs. For every round a team wins, you get the points you assigned to them. So, you assign Calgary 16 points and they win the Cup, that's 64 points (winner of 4 rounds); you assign Tampa 15 and they make the Final, that's another 45 points (winner of three rounds), etc...
There's a strategy for breaking up the points. If you think a series in the first round will be close, maybe it's better to assign each team a higher number, just in case the series goes against who you actually think will win.
With that said, here's my list:
Tampa Bay - 16
NY Rangers -15
Minnesota -14
Calgary - 13
Vancouver - 12
Chicago - 11
Montreal - 10
Anaheim - 9
Washington - 8
St. Louis - 7
NY Islanders - 6
Nashville - 5
Ottawa - 4
Winnipeg - 3
Detroit - 2
Pittsburgh - 1
I'll keep track of the points. Winner gets a Pitbull .gif.
