Yay!

This will be the first pre-season game I will be able to watch start to finish. Usually have to get up at 6:10 in the morning and the others have finished at 2:30 my time haha.

But going to a big meeting with some partner institutions on Friday in a different city... don't have to be there until 10am and the place I live is pretty much equidistant in time from the city I work in and where the meeting is... so I can wake up at like 8:30! (plus the meeting is only 2 hours long and get the rest of the day off... so don't have to be too wide awake! Though I think I have to get up and present some stuff, so hope it does not go to OT!)

Yeah following the Flyers from Europe can be brutal. As 20s became 30s and Gagne's became Gagner's, I've ticked down from 82 to like 40ish games a year.

Yep, though slightly nicer from UK... that extra hour is such a big difference! When I was in the Netherlands it was tougher still, so I know your pain with that extra hour!

So far since ~2008 I have caught 70+ regular season games live every year (before that is would be maybe ~40 or so regular season and every playoff game)... 70 may be a stretch this year though! During University it was easy ofc... and my last job it was too as I did not care so rolled in with 3 hours sleep... but my current job I actually care about!

I have already started figuring out a calendar though... every friday and saturday night games are no brainers, as are 5 p.m EST games... and I can use my 'flexi-time' at work for one 7PM EST start a week I reckon, as I can come in to work at maybe 10 am once a week.

But even still I know in October & November alone I'm going to miss:

18th @ Chicago
25th vs Buffalo
2nd vs Detroit
15th vs Ottawa
19th vs Tampa (though because I will be on a plane/in airport when that game is on!)
23rd @ Tampa (though as I will be on a night out in Prague!)
25th vs Rags (as I will be watching Eisbären Berlin when that game is on!)

7 in two months... so I reckon 70+ live is a pipedream this year... though should get 60+ still for sure!

I make my own schedule for work so I try to take into account certain games. I miss some but it's nice that I get to watch majority.

Having said that I will miss tomorrow's game :(

Please let Nick Schultz and Shayne Gostisbehere not be a thing beyond tomorrow, and hopefully not even for all of tomorrow. I don't know who came up with that on the Flyers coaching staff (looking at you Gord), but it is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea. Putting your dynamic, elite offensive player with an anchor, devoid of puck skills, whose only purpose is to start in the d zone -- and then proceed to eat up ice time struggling to get out of it -- makes little sense. Not to mention the idea of Schultz getting top 4 ice time. There's such a thing as being a complimentary player to someone like Ghost, like Provorov or Morin or MDZ could be, and then......there's this :pout:

Also going to catch a HC Slavia Prague game that day... wanted to see Sparta but only there for three days and two nights and they don't play during that time, so 2nd tier Czech hockey it is!

Ha, I see. Gotta say Sparta would have been definitely better, obviously; Slavia is quite close to bankruptcy these days unfortunately, but there still might be some interesting players to watch (43 yr old Pavel Kolarik who played a few dozen games for Bruins about 15 years ago, D Ronald Knot who played at Hlinka memorial in 2012, David Safranek)

But they are playing České Budějovice, so that is good. Luboš Rob (grandson of Jaroslav Pouzar, 3 S. cups with Edmonton), RW David Kuchejda (Chi. Blackhawks 7th ruonder in 2005), Pittsburgh Penguins wonder Angelo Esposito play there. 2nd versus 4th in the standings.
You might be in for a good time (even though the building is nothing special, but hey, it has that good old feeling)

Morning skate @ 10:30, so hopefully we'll get confirmations of lines. Only 2 games with this one left. Konecny can solidify his spot with 2 good showings

So Konecny with PEB & Weise. I kind of like that.

Cousins w/ Gordon & Weal...that's not an ideal 4th line. I'm thinking that COULD be a 4th, but Weal would not be there.

Scratches on D & Forward look pretty close to what I would in the regular season. Wait, whos #60?

There's Schultz and Ghost...yuk

I'm sure Manning's hurt, because there's no excuse not to give him more than two preseason games when he is battling to make the roster. And no, the reason is not because he's a bad player.

Kyle's lineups would a lot easier to follow if he had LW and LD on the left and RD and RW on the right.

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Raffl-Couturier-Voracek
Konecny-Bellemare-Weise
Cousins-Gordon-Weal

MDZ-Gudas
Schultz-Ghost
Provorov-Streit

That lineup reminds me how important Cousins is going to be this year to those of us that want Bellemare back on the wing. Ugh.

Poppin' in to drop off our lineup

Thanks much. I keep forgetting that Ottawa trade happened. Just looks so weird.

I'm lovin' seeing ZBad in a Rangers sweater. Pretty great.

That being said, it's going to be really weird for me to see Brassard, my favorite when he was on the Rangers, to be in a Sens sweater, playing against us.
