I would imagine Weal is more priority but Hextall will kick tires on Williams to see if there's something potentially there if Weal looks to go elsewhere.

It looks pretty obvious to me that Weal is on his way out. Supposedly he has already visited with the Canucks and Canadiens and I just don't see Hextall getting into a bidding war for his services. In theory the Flyers could let him walk and not sign anyone and still have a fair amount of depth at forward.

Lindblom - Giroux - Voracek
Filppula - Patrick - Simmonds
Raffl - Couturier - Konecny
Laughton - Lehtera - Weise
Read
Vecchione (with the Phantoms)

Yeah, even if Weal walks, the forward depth is fine for the moment. Hextall seems to really think that Laughton is going to be on the team this year. I don't think one winger is going to be the difference between this team doing damage in the playoffs or not. I see them as a bubble playoff team regardless until the defense becomes more established.

Problems:
1) Way too many future assets for Duchene. Hexy made it pretty clear that we're not going all-in to win now.
2) Why is he playing wing?
3) No trading Couturier right now if we're smart. Overall team defense will suffer.
In the past, Duchene has played LW on Team Canada with Giroux centering the line.

I'm under the impression both Hextall and Hakstol are envisioning Laughton as the center on the fourth line. With the quality of 2-way centerman on the team and in the system, Giroux should be put in the best position moving forward to focus on producing offense.

The offense is not very good but the D can be great.

Provorov is the future of this team. Call it rebuilding, moving things around, or whatever the f*** you want to call it, but this team should be focused around Ivan, with a defense-first mentality. If Philly keeps focused on G and Jake, or any one of the offensive prospects not named Patrick, the team is doomed. Giroux is not the answer. Most likely, he will not be in Philly to win a Stanley Cup (unless Hexy makes big moves now to win now, which probably isn't happening for better or worse).

Provorov the Truth.

I just dont see Laughton as a center. To me he is a LW, probably a good 3rd line LW with that speed and shot. But I have yet to see anything that makes me think he is a legitimate center.

I don't understand what point you are trying to make. 1C and 1D don't step on each other's toes. And at worst Giroux is holding down the 1C slot while Patrick establishes himself or another potential 1C emerges.

You do realize that this is not an either/or, right?

Is it really that hard to envision a world where prime Patrick, Provorov, et al. lead the team to a cup with Giroux, Voracek, etc. in support?

No guys, he's right.

Look at the last 10 cup winners.... all of them have a 1C OR 1D, not both!!!

If we keep Giroux we have to trade Provorov, if we keep Provorov then we must trade Giroux. It's the law.

How can I kidnap Hakstol, drive him to the woods, dig a hole, and sit in it (naked) with him to spend four straight days telling him that he needs to have Filp on LW with Couts and Simmonds? I really wanna see how that line looks.

just tell him You are taking him to a secret dinner roast in his honor. Along the way stop and get him a coffee and slip him some mind suggesting drugs in the coffee where he would listen to any idea you give him.

That's a good looking team. Is that Williams contract about what he's going to be looking for?
